She was in Austin last month doing songs from her blues album and we went to see her. She's great. I don't really follow her too much, so I didn't know she'd done a blues album, but I was pleasantly surprised.

I like her voice and really admire her exceptionally good live vocal power, but it's a bit uncomfortable sometimes seeing Cyn live because she is tantrum-prone. It's been written about here previously by me and by others. She has a great talent, but her temperment sometimes is quite scary to witness, and you feel like a pro would be more in control of really losing it, bigtime.
I think headlining overwhelms her, when she did years on two tours as Cher's opening act, there was no going off on the audience that I ever saw, or heard of. On her own, she has a reputation as sometimes- and out of seemingly nowhere- turning, fiercely, on her paying audience. |

JannieC, two months or so ago there was a thread with a title something like 'Performers in bad moods at Concerts' and that was one place I posted (of two threads) my 2nd row account of Cyndi balling out the audience. It'd be too tedious for me to recount it again, but I imagine it's searchable. A couple of other people wrote that they had witnessed similar things from Cyndi. I think she's an exceptionally good live performer, she's so good in concert, but it was unsettling to see her so upset. Yet, we all have good days and bad days, and I guess it was healthy that she let it out. I still like her a lot, and you're right, she did blow away Cher on those two tours |
