The Beatles' Year Of Living Dangerously

With the death of Brian Epstein in August 1967 the Beatles were transformed from a well-disciplined group of loveable mop-tops to a fractured long-haired collective pursuing four different creative paths. Meanwhile, their psychedelic revolution was heading mainstream in the guise of their animated musical movie, Yellow Submarine (reissued in new digital finery next month). As a companion piece to MOJO 224's 19-page Beatles special (on sale now) we submit the video evidence from the year the Fabs went mad.

Default Help Oppose John Lennon's Killer from getting Parole

Help Oppose John Lennon's Killer from getting Parole in August 2012
May 30, 2012

Unfortunately its that time again among John Lennon and Beatles fans.John's murderous, cowardly, crazy scumbag killer xxxxxxx that assassinated him is up for his Parole hearing again this August 2012.xxxxxx is up for parole every two years now.Every two years there is always online petitions including even Facebook pages to help gather support and get the word out.So people all over the USA and the world can sign petitions and fill out online forms and writes letters opposing this coward who shot John to death. There is really no easy or best way for me to write this out.But just to post the facts needed to oppose it.I have several times not posted articles about this killer. I certainly don't want to mention him ever either. But this is far to important to not post it.I want stand by John's wife Yoko and sons and family members and the surviving former members of the band and all those that are angry and heartbroken over his assassination. His wife Yoko, no matter what everyone's personal feeling toward her are, had to witness her husband shot to death and. When every two years Yoko's lawyers sends out her personal letter opposing his release from prison ever.I want that there will always be a invisible group of us,standing near her and his Sons and all his fans, opposing this together in spirit etc. The killer has publicly stated in interviews, since he is now a born again Christian. That Jesus has forgiven him.So in his morally sick mind.I suppose he thinks thats why the parole board should just free him.I have no intention myself of forgiving for murdering John.I suppose now that murderous killer, is at peace himself.Because he thinks has been forgiven by God.I think he is just waiting untill Yoko pass's away from old age.She about is 80 years old right. Then the New York State board can parole him. This thing make me sick inside and angry.I do not support any violence or breaking of any laws against XXXXXX.But I have every right legally as we all have as adults living in the United States, to oppose his release from prison. He is living off all out Federal tax payer money while in prison. We all have every right to oppose his release.Whether they intend to ever release in the future from prison or not. Those that do wish not to do anything to oppose his release.I respect your right to not anything to oppose or not agree with us..Please respect right our right to legally oppose XXXXX from ever getting out of prison. He wanted to be famous and be known for the one that assassinated John Lennon. That is the price he going to pay every two years.I think that killer would just love for the fans and John's loved ones. When his parole comes up.For us to just ignore it and not oppose it.That thing is not getting out of it every two years that easy.I want to add one last thing.I do not represent anyone in John Lennon's family or Yoko Ono,or any of his business interests etc.I also have no interest and no intention of ever answering any questions about this issue to any media or news organization etc.The parole board information, requests statements be turned in,no later than about one month before the parole date.So the people on the parole board can look at all the paperwork and letters in opposition or support for parole for inmates.I'm not going to be posting anything else in thread about his issue.Thank you everyone that submits this internet form and mails in letters etc to the New York parole board.Your suppose to get a e mail back.Just saying that they received your letters etc and form submitted and that they are forwarding it to the New York State parole board people etc.I will be back in two years to post this again. I am sending John's family and all his loved one and fans etc.My love and prayers.

Please share this information with others to help oppose his release from prison, on other message boards, the internet,Facebook and among friends etc etc.

*The Beatles are still revered by all ages, long after redefining rock’s possibilities

In this 10-part series, we pay tribute to the rock ’n’ roll-era visionaries who came up with the musical vocabulary we’re still hearing today – the ones without whom the language of rock ’n’ roll would not sound the same. MONTREAL - Consider the odds of two colossal songwriting talents like John Lennon and Paul McCartney living in the same city. Then think about the chances of them ending up in the same group. After that, ponder the probability of George Harrison and Ringo Starr bringing not only the precisely right musical touch but the exact personalities needed to make all four witty and interesting.

Sacred Cows - The Beatles, 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band'

Everyone knows how important The Beatles are. Anyone who doesn’t recognise it is just being contrary. With that, everyone knows about the gigantic cultural impact of ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’.It turned music upside down. Rock musicians looked at it and thought, ‘Wow! There’s life beyond trad rock instruments! We can look beyond the blues as a blueprint!’ It ushered in a new way of thinking for bands – for the first time, they didn’t have to worry about recreating things live. The studio was an adventure playground to be explored. The world was the songwriter’s oyster.

Default This thread is being deleted this sunday 6/3/2012

I wanted to let everyone know that reads this John Lennon/Beatles Mega Thread. That the Ledge moderators send me a message yesterday telling me, that this sunday 6/3 this thread will be deleted from the Chit Chat area of the Ledge.

Because for a long time now I have been the only one contributing to the Beatles thread and it's not really a discussion any more. It's more like a Beatles stream or monologue that only you update and enhance. While the information in it is great, it seems more suited for a Beatles website or blog than it does for Chit Chat at this point, because no one is actually chatting. For this reason, they want to remove the thread.Because It doesn't seem to be a matter of general interest for this particular forum.

The message the moderators send me,was respectful and understanding explaining the reasons for deleting this thread from the Chit Chat area. After thinking about it myself.I think its for the best and I approve of it being deleting from Chit Chat area.Since I really don't have as much the time to update it everyday anymore. Also I am busyer in my personal life to etc.

Or maybe they might consider just locking it.So all the articles and news updates and information.Could be saved and just read in the future by people wanting to go back and read the older archives.I know sometimes, some threads are just locked.I have all the articles that have been posted here saved on my own computer allready for my own archives.

This thread was started by me for John Lennon's 70th birthday back in 2010.I really loved posting news on it to share it with everyone. It was getting 1000's of views every month. It got up to over 66 thousand views this thread.I'm sure everyone has noticed how numbers go up every week and month.Either Fleetwood Mac has a lot Beatles fans.Or the Beatles have a lot of Fleetwood Mac fans. Or some Beatles fans found this thread on the Ledge.

For anyone that still wants to read Beatles related news.I am posting one link to one the biggest and I think one of the best Beatles message boards on the internet. You don't have to register to read it.I am not a moderator on it.But its updated all the time with news and cool Beatles related on it.Also the moderators there are fair, cool and respectful and do a great job. Or use Google to find other Beatles message boards or Beatle news web sites for news updates etc.

Thank You to the owner of the Ledge and the moderators that have allowed this thread to go on for long as it has. Thanks to everyone that has read it,posted and helped to keep this thread going for so long. Its been a great run.I'm proud and happy and loved sharing this with all of you.Fleetwood Mac is still my favorite band and allways will be my number one love in music.I love the Beatles music and their solo music to.They are number 2 on my favorite bands list.Everyone have a safe, positive and great summer.Take care of yourselves and be good to each other.I 'm sending you all positive energy, prayers and my love. hugs

Well I'm so sorry to hear that MsLinds. Your point that the thread was getting thousands of views--on a blog that has ads that depend on views--just goes to show you how stupid the moderators on The Ledge are. I'm sorry I didn't contribute to the thread, but really the whole forum has degraded into blather. I will put whatever energy I have towards posting on Beatlelinks, where I'm sure they would not be so short-sighted as to delete a successful thread. Unless it was derogatory or truly offensive, I see no reason to delete it. Oh well, like I said, I think the energy is better spent over on Beatlelinks. And your efforts are much more appreciated over there as well, I'm sure ;-)

Default John Lennon/Beatles Mega Thread

Your welcome Nico and 3rd World Man.Please don't worry that you didn't have time to post on it. I did research on Google and other internet sites everyday. For news items to post here etc.But I never really had the time myself to post more.Even on actual Beatles fan message boards. The news forums, basicly are for posted news, they never do get a lot of postings on them. The other forums on these boards allways get the most postings.I think for Beatles news etc,its best everyone reading this thread, goes to other Beatles fan message boards.Since the decision was made about shutting down this thread.I have decided even if they had changed their minds.I would not be posting anymore Beatles related news on this thread anyway.

Please don't be sad anyone. It had a good long run. This thread was one of the most read and successful threads on the Penguin Ledge. It has all those gold stars near it to.Maybe the thread will just be locked for a few months. Before its deleted. So people can still back and go and read all that information and old news etc.But sometime tomorrow,I'm expecting this thread to be gone. You all think happy, positive thoughts. Everyone have a great weekend and take care. " I don't know why you say good bye I say hello "...

Ok, so I "heard it through the grapevine" that this thread has been condemned to death...if we want to "parole" something, let it be (no pun originally intended, but that was a pretty good one, huh? ) this thread.

What's the problem with it? It's one of the last remaining reasons for me coming back around, since it's pretty obvious that even with half their members DEAD, The Beatles have more things going on than Fleetwood Mac these days. The Beatles are still relevant on a daily basis...the thread is in the "Chit Chat" section, so it's not like it's infringing on any fawning over Stevie Nicks.

I understand how you feel ChiliD about this. Thanks for being a loyal reader.I did say that even if the moderators change there minds.I wasn't going to be posting to this thread anymore. But if wasn't deleted,I would still gladly have been updating this everyday. When I was updating my other Beatles news forums.Where I was offered and given my own new forums. It is true that even with two of the band members dead. How there is more going on daily with Beatles news that even Fleetwood Mac.I don't want to cause any problems about this thread being deleted.I want to thank you all for your support here.Come on over to the Beatles Link board.I am not moderator there. But I am a registered member. The news is updated everyday, except on weekends. There is a lot of great forums on the board. Each band member has their forum. There are other boards. But that one as far as I know, the biggest one for Beatles fans on the internet.I just want to be sure you guys can keep reading Beatles related news updates etc.

I don't want to post again on this thread.Since its getting deleted tomorrow.I have not heard anything else from the moderators since I was told the thread was going to be deleted, then a brief PM,response back. After I contacted them about it.I am going to not stressed and worry about this.I'm alittle about sad about this to.I don't want any of you.Being upset, sad or stressed in anyway about this. But I'm very happy knowing I did have many people that liked and enjoyed this board.Everyone have a safe, positive and great sunday and upcoming week and take care.
