I love what he does for EOTW from the Mirage video. Pretty much the whole second half of the song!
I also always loved his last thing on YMLF right after the last vocals. It just SOARS! (Like St. Louis 1979...)

But, I don't know if it qualifies as a solo, but i really like live Big Love. it amazes me every time. That one man, one guitar, and all that sound! Love it. Of course, I like bunches of others, too...I'll always have a soft spot for GYOW solo.

Even though it's not technically written by him, I absolutely love This Nearly Was Mine off of Out of the Cradle. That's hands down one of my favorite Lindsey guitar moments! It's so beautiful. I'd have to say that Street of Dreams is also a personal favorite.

best solo
FROZEN LOVE...hands down. He totally rocks that song.
Live it would be I'm So Afraid and his solo on The Chain. BTW..this is not a guitar solo really but my favorite song to just sit and listen to his beautiful guitar is Stephanie. I find that song to be so soothing and heartfelt. God I wish he would do some BN stuff one day.

LIVE: "Come" from the 2003 Pittsburgh show. I think it was the second show of the tour, and so he was still trying out (improvising) different ideas for the solo. (By the end of 2003 and 2004 the solo was completely predictable and obviously pre-planned.) The solo is just so raw and packed with so much energy. The end is absolutely incredible, again simply due to the fact that it's obviously completely improvised -- it sounds insane, in the best possible way! Even the little fills he plays during the song on that night are amazing, subtle and perfect.
STUDIO: Any one of 5 or 6, but at the moment, I would say The Chain. If you tab it out, it looks quite easy for any half decent guitarist. It's not the technical proficiency...it's the fact that each and every time I hear that solo, it makes me want to drop it into 5th and put my foot down - sign of a good solo! |

I think the reason why we find him good is because he plays without a pick. It's not too difficult for one song, but he does it all the time
My personal favorites are big love (live), come (from live in Boston) go insane (live, haven't heard the studio version yet) GYOW & my little demon. But there are many more...

There's so many awesome ones, but I fall back on the White Album tour treatment of ISA live as the most enjoyable.

I love 'Come' live - that was awesome, as well as 'Big Love' as well. I also love 'The Dance' one of 'Go Insane.' I really do love Lindsey's voice - very distinctive and brilliant live.

Being sort of a newbie around here, I personally like "Trouble" and "Big Love".
Sounds like I am in the minority though Pat

Electric lead solos over the years onstage . . . there are so many! I love the solo on "Rhiannon" from Osaka 12.04.77. I incorporate that into what I play whenever I play "Rhiannon." I also loved the "I'm So Afraid" solos from late in the '80 tour, especially the last two nights, as well as from Irvine Meadows in 1982.
I love some of the solos for "Rhiannon" from the '78 tour. As for studio solos, my favorites are those from "You Make Loving Fun," "Go Your Own Way," "The Chain," "Family Man," "Trouble."
