Question We Are The World

lindsey appears with a large group of singers on this album cover as well as pictured inside with bob dylan, but does he sing lead or play guitar on any track on this album, or is he just in the chorus?

He's only in the chorus.

At first, before I saw the video, I thought that Kenny Loggins' part was actually Lindsey, because he sounded so much like him but, alas, no.

(same thing with Kenny Loggins' live version of "I'm Alright"...he sounds a lot like Lindsey vocally on that one...compared to the studio cut)

Some photos from that illustrious event (I think this was his fashion low point)

Lightbulb LMAO!!

Him putting his hand up to his ear is HYSTERICAL!

Jessica Simpson was doing that on SNL last weekend as she sang in a skit, and I was DYING!!

Well, I can't say ANYTHING about his fashion in 1984. We ALL made bad choices back in the day. LOL

There was quite a lot of bitching about this song in the UK. The basic complaint was that the US stars were too 'stary' about the whole thing, making demands, pulling rank and so on whereas the British stars were a bit more laid back and casual about it all.

Did Stevie or anyone else from FM do this?

I also wondered why they didn't do anything, just for welfare of starving people in Africa (at that moment).
It comes from the heart, but he, maybe they weren't asked!
Who knows?

Imagine...showing up to the same event with the same hairdo. I wonder who was more embarrassed, Lindsey or Dylan.

That hair is absolutely atrocious.

I know it was the 80s, but there is no excuse for THAT.

Actually, Dylan's looks better on this night, and I have seen Ol' Bob looking pretty rough. The ultra high-and-tight is my least favorite Lindsey look. His eyebrows are way over-plucked, too. Gimme natural hippie-boy LB anyday.

I believe I read that who was there that night was sort of a random thing. Of course Jacko and Quincy Jones, etc.. were planned, but for the chorus and fill-in voices, I heard they just sort of asked anyone who was hanging around after the Grammy's. I don't think Lindsey planned to do it ahead of time... it seems to have just come together as an "organic" thing, to quote the man himself, so I guess that appealed to Lindsey. I guess he was being sponataneous, and after all, if you are asked to do that kind of thing, what are you going to do? Say no and look like an ass?

That's not to say his intentions weren't genuine, I am sure they were, I am just saying I think it was a spur of the moment kind of thing with alot of the performers who wound up in the chorus, from what alot of the things I have read about how that all came together.
