Default lowest-selling tracks on iTunes

Out of curiosity, I called up all Fleetwood Mac tracks on iTunes, ordered them by sales, and then looked at the list starting at the bottom. Predictably, the bottom reaches of the list consist mostly of pre-Buckingham/Nicks songs, outtakes from the remasters, live versions, and tracks from Time and Behind the Mask.

If you look only at the five studio albums of the initial BN period, the least popular songs are:

1. That's Enough For me (Tusk) [my favorite track from that album!]
2. You and I, Part 2 (Tango)
3. Can't Go Back (Mirage)
4. Book of Love (Mirage)
5. Only Over You (Mirage)

If you count Behind The Mask as BN-era (because of Nicks), the least popular song is "When The Sun Goes Down." The least popular song written with the involvement of Stevie is "Love Is Dangerous." Oddly, those are my two favorite songs from that album.

Just thought it was interesting to see which songs were the least downloaded.

Ha, that is really interesting. So "Only Over You" is the least popular? I would agree that's one of their worst from the BN era...

But "Book of Love." No! That one is great.

Funny, I love Only Over you...the background yearning vocals, especially at the end get to me. Oh Diane is horrible (should be on that list) and I really don't like the screaming on That's enough for me. Can't stand When I see you again either. Stevie's out there vocals during the Tango era drive me crazy, as much as I love her.

While I'd agree "Only Over You" is a weak song, I don't think that, or any of the songs on that list, are the worst of the Stevie era. Those aren't even the worst from their respective albums!

I probably should have listed the tracks starting with number 5 to make it clearer. "Only Over You" is the fifth least popular. The number 1 least popular is "That's Enough for Me."

Wow, Lindsey really got tarred & feathered on this list!

I'll never get all the hate for Only Over You, either. It's a beautiful little song with lush harmonies, and for Christine, it's kind of avant garde. I think it's one of the stronger tracks on an admittedly weak album.

Well said!

I want to express some love for the song too. You insight-fully articulated the song's merits. I also consider it one of the stronger, most effective, yet underrated songs on the album.

Can't Go Back, and Book of Love make almost every compilation I've ever created! I love both of those songs!

Me too, I love Book of love e Can't go back, I would like to hear a live performance of these songs.

I don't consider it avant garde, but I agree with everything else.

Keep dreaming. I don't think Lindsey even remembers his Mirage songs exist, aside from "Eyes of the World."

Add me to the list of people who love "Only Over You." I think it is one of the better songs on Mirage. I am not surprised about "That's Enough For Me." It is the only song on Tusk I skip.

I don't dislike any of those tracks. While none of them are my favorites from their respective albums, they are still quite good as they are.

And I can't imagine Tusk without That's Enough for Me.

I've got no issue with 'Only Over You' or 'Can't Go Back' either. They aren't up there with 'Gypsy' (few songs on 'Mirage' are, really) but they are certainly amongst the better tunes on the album. 'Can't Go Back' feels more authentically 'Lindsey' than the 1950s experiments on 'Book Of Love' and 'Oh Diane'. It sounds to my ears like a glossier, more accessible take on his 'Tusk' material.

I'm also surprised that 'You And I, Part II' is on the list, which means more people are downloading 'Welcome To The Room... Sara', 'Mystified' and 'When I See You Again' which are the weaker songs on 'Tango' for me. I've always liked the jungle rhythms of 'You And I, Part II' and it's a fittingly upbeat ending to an album that is propelled largely by the peppy production. It also evokes a place for me that is similar to the album cover, so whilst it might not be as strong as 'Big Love' it's not offensive enough to end up in my bottom 5 for the Buckingham/Nicks era.

I LOVE Mystified. Those awesome harmonies and that guitar solo. Perfect. Listen on headphones, it takes you away to some tropical island. Love it.
