Default misunderstood Stevie lyrics! :)

When I was a kid, I ALWAYS misunderstood some of the things she was singing. I went for years singing the wrong words, such as...

STOP DRAGGIN' MY HEART AROUND
"I said, 'Gail! Well, what am I supposed to do?' I didn't know what I was gettin' into..." (I just assumed Gail was a good friend of Stevie's)

STAND BACK
"Do not turn away my friend...black widow, I can bend!"

TALK TO ME
"Well I showed you all my GODS now isn't that enough?"

RHIANNON
do do do, do do do do..."Leannaaaaaaaaa..."

EDGE OF 17
"Just like the one we love, sings a song sounds like she's SAYIN'..."

ROOMS ON FIRE
"...it seemed to be the only thing that's drivin' the light..."

My best friend Chris recently told me he went for many years thinking she was singing...

DREAMS (this one's naughty)
"...when the rain washes, you cream your load..."

SORCERER
"Little woman on a star stream...in the middle of a snow drift..."

And finally, when SYW came out, my neice was 9 years old and would sing along...

GOODBYE BABY (this one's my favorite)
"I hope your heart's not broken, don't forget me...yes, I was out smokin'..."

What about you guys? Any funny things that you'd sing thinking it was the real lyric?

Every time I heard "Rooms On Fire" on the radio in May 1989 (before The Other Side Of The Mirror was released~ with lyrics included), I was positive Stevie was singing:

"Long nights of wine cloud my memory..."

In 1976, I thought the chorus of "Rhiannon" went:

"Ee--YEAH--uhhh...
Ee--YEAH--uhh..."

I still sing this on "Blue Lamp"~

"And the light that shines
Through the shiny night
Is a lamp that I carried
From my mother's arms..."

I STILL sing along to ALICE with these words (that i swear she was singing when i first heard the cassette single in 1989): "some carry a stiletto in their car door, along with everything else that they carry."

hey... it makes sense. except Stevie doesnt drive.

In the 1994 Street Angel tour book, Stevie talks about driving around the desert in her Jeep!

Not to mention Stevie behind the wheel in the video for "The Blonde In The Blue T-Bird"!!!

i dont really have any that i can think of. im usually too obsessed with knowing/reading the correct lyrics til they are embedded into my brain.

a friend of mine (non Stevie fan) was in the car with me once when i was listening to the BD cd and thought she said in After The Glitter Fades:
Even though the linen is sometimes laced with lice...its alright

I keep running into people who think she's singing "Just like the one-winged dove," which doesn't even make any sense. Some misheard lyrics are understandable, but others are so off-the-wall that it's obvious the person has a hearing problem.

I also thought it was "one-winged dove"

And that line in "Sisters of the Moon" sure sounded like "many black widow spiders and that ham and cheese"

My sister sings, to this day: 'its a bit of golden brain.'

My all time favorite blunder came from a Ledgie. In Fireflies they thought Stevie was saying, "Everyone stays close to the fireplace."

Ha ha ha!!! That's really funny. It reminds me of the Mad TV skits where this woman played a crazy little girl named Dot. She was on Oprah once talking about how she forgot to feed her sister's hamster so it ate it's own foot and then she tried to baptize the hamster babies but they drowned.

When Edge first came out I used to think she was saying "just like a one window" which makes absolutely no sense.
