Default A new box set like Tom Petty's would be really nice!

Tom Petty just released The Live Anthology -- a massive, very impressive box set that include 5 discs of live songs (with one blueray disc that contains all the live songs), as well 2 DVDs - a film documentary and a show from 1978, along with a vinyl live album - a replication of one of his early promo releases in 1976. Along with an amazing graphic construction, the box also includes a book, a concert poster, 4 vintage backstage/tour passes --and weirdly: a small blank notebook!

I immediately thought if only Stevie put out something like this, in the proper hands (Chris Nicks - STAND BACK!) it could be amazing (even though she couldn't fill five discs). But then I thought, Fleetwood Mac could!

It's always nice to see well-established artists doing great things with their body of work -- for their fans. Sadly, this has never been the case with Fleetwood Mac/Stevie Nicks. Of course, what we get from them we are grateful for, but when I what other artists are doing, I get very sad and disilusioned (sic..where's spell check!) about what Fleetwood Mac is not doing with what they have, especially since they aren't very prolific.

Given that Stevie is so close to Tom Petty, I always wonder what she thinks when she sees what he's doing. Does a light ever go off in her head?

Fleetwood Mac's live anthology could include: (fill in any that I missed)

Get Like You Used To Be
Why
Spare Me A Little
Believe Me
Green Manalishi
Oh Well
Station Man
Tell Me All The Things You Do
Sunny Side of Heaven
Frozen Love
Don't Let Me Down Again
Hypnotized
Say You Love Me
Blue Letter
Monday Morning
I'm So Afraid
Over My Head
Rhiannon
Landslide
World Turning
Second Hand News
Dreams
Never Going Back Again
Don't Stop
Go Your Own Way
Songbird
Silver Springs
The Chain
You Make Loving Fun
Oh Daddy
Gold Dust Woman
Over and Over
Think About Me
Save Me A Place
What Makes You Think You're the One
Storms
Sara Not That Funny
Sisters of the Moon
Angel
That's Enough For Me
Brown Eyes
I Know I'm Not Wrong
Beautiful Child
Tusk
The Farmer's Daughter
Love in Store
Hold Me
Eyes of the World
Gypsy
Seven Wonders
Everywhere
Little Lies
Big Love
Isn't It Midnight
Tear It Up
Love Is Dangerous
In The Back of My Mind
I Loved Another Woman
Save Me
Rattlesnake Shake
When The Sun Goes Down
Stand Back
Has Anyone Ever Written Anything for You
Temporary One
Bleed to Love Her
Go Insane

Also live songs not included in set lists:

P.S. Is it possible to edit the title in a post? I forgot the word "be."

Whoever is behind Tom Petty's products is awesome. The stuff that comes out from him is always great. His boxed set "Playback" is one of the best boxed sets to come out from anyone. The documentary from a couple years ago was top notch, and now this new anthology is also stellar. Great stuff. I wish whoever was working for him would start working with Stevie and the Mac!!!

Tony Dimitriades (East End Management) is his Manager, who consequently used to be Lindsey's Manager... And Tom's on Warner Bros.

I was reading about what Tom and Mike Campbell went through putting this Anthology together and by the sounds of it - they've recorded everything they've ever done right from the beginning, audio and video - and kept it! Something I don't think Fleetwood Mac considered doing, or if they did, they're sitting on it.

Actually you would be quite surprised. Couple of years ago Ken (their producer) went through the warner vaults, deff not everything they ever did is recorded. I believe he said that usually he went out on the road for a few weeks and recorded a handful of shows and that was it! I think a lot of the soundboard tapes that we have that leaked, are just cassette dubs taped directly from the board (and often poorly mixed at that!)...I don't think they actually have all that many masters in the vaults, in terms of live shows.

The complete DR footing would be great indeed. We'll probably have to wait like 30 years for that though.
