Default Songbook dilemma

I have a dilemma. I have the Fleetwood Mac Deluxe Anthology with sheet music for the first three albums. I really want to scan everything and put it on The Ledge, but I'd have to take the book apart in order to do that, because it won't fit in my scanner or a photocopier because the edges get cut off.

It's falling apart anyway - the spine is ripped about 1/3 of the way down and some sheets are loose. Since it's already kind of gnarly, should I (carefully!) disassemble the book and scan the pages? Or should I just leave it as is? I don't know how easy these are to come by, and if I did take all the pages out, I'd want to buy a new one for sentimental purposes. What would you do?

Hi Moz,

Personally, I would take it apart and then keep it in a binder in plastic wallets so it doesn't get all messed up.

Hope this helps

^^ Ditto Storing it like this will probably preserve the individual pages better than keeping it together.

Can you photocopy the pages and then scan the photocopies?

Imagine paying $1000 to hear "Don't Dream It's Over" instead of "Go Your Own Way"

Fleetwood Mac helped me through a time of heartbreak. 12 years later, they broke my heart.

I've tried, but alas, the parts closest to the spine don't turn out at all.

Here's what it looks like.

The spine is split about 1/3 of the way down, and the book is pretty much in two pieces. However, the majority of the book still has fairly solid binding. How would I go about taking it apart without mangling it?

How about taking an exacto knife to it? If you cut right against the edge of the binding, the sheets should come out relatively straight. Did it once with a play...

I never thought of that! I'll take this sucker to school tomorrow (if I feel better) and try that with a big T-square.

I feel so lame for worrying about a book.

Don't! Books are wonderful but if it's already falling apart and you want to preserve it nicely putting the pages separately in a folder is a good idea.

All three of the albums published in Deluxe Anthology were published separately with cool photos. If you have those, you don't have to worry about Deluxe Anthology.

I used my copy to scribble all over in (I generally scribble transposition modulations & other stuff).
