I have to say.. he gave a very moving speech. Did he woo me over to his side.. hmmm not so much. I kept hearing a bunch of mishmosh Big Nanny Democrat promises.. However.. a powerful speech it was.

I watched it and had a chance to be in the stadium but passed.
The message I got was the Democrats answer to the Republican commericals, saying Obama isn't ready to lead,. Obama's response McCain doesn't have a clue how to lead. He's not middle class and never has been. Did you see the McCain commercials congratulating Obama? I will be interested to see what the Republicans come up with. I want to hear what music they choose. I didn't identify with some of the tunes the Dem's played. Last edited by Betsy; 08-29-2008 at 09:32 AM.. |

So I hopped on my bike and went for a ride towards the Pepsi Center yesterday morning.
They had reopened Speer Blvd. and Auraria Parkway so I was able to get close. I rode up to the CNN Grill looking for AC but they were packin' up shackin' up. The party had begun to move to Mile High. Apparently one of the perqs of coming to the convention is being able to use the "Royal Toilets." They Young Republicans in their togas had begun their march to Mile High: With that I decided to go home and get ready to go to Mile High. When I got there, the line was unbelievable. It wasn't moving very fast. The cops handed out water to everyone. The city workers did too. Finally the line started to move and we saw people hawking all kinds of stuff but this guy is one of my faves. He was selling a t shirt that said McCan't. I love it! The other guy's said "Run DNC." |

We were led through a zig zag route to the entrance to the stadium. We started at 17th (Dick Connor Way) and back down to about 19th then back again through a parking lot and finally down and embankment where Colfax meets Federal Blvd. There were elderly people behind me and I was worried for them as I had a hard time getting down the embankment. Why they did that, I do not know. That was the only bonehead move I saw as far as crowd control. Then the fast walk sprint was on to security. We went through the same set up that we would go through at the airport except we didn't have to take our shoes off. Then off to find seats. I ended up in Section 533. I collapsed into my seat because it felt as though we had climbed Mount Evans by the time I got there. Those stairs at Mile High are steep! But I was afforded and incredible view to the west and of the setting sun.
President Eisenhower's grandaughter came out to speak. Then they had some military generals (who are Dems) come out and do a little presentation. A loud cheer went up when Wesley Clark was introduced. Then, surprise, Joe Biden came out to introduce some regular folks that were going to speak, including that one lady who was a life long Republican until her husband had a heart attack and the Barney Smith/Smith Barney guy. They were both a treat. Another loud cheer went up and I looked down to see Michelle Obama, Sasha and Malia. Then it was time for the video. It went into Barack's life story. And then at the end of it with no introduction, he just walked out onto the stage. The place went crazy. If you watched then you know the rest. I'll never forget what it was like to watch history in the making. |

WOW...I admire you. You had the guts to go to the stadium. When I sit that high up, I have the feeling of falling out of my seat. Incredible photos. Thanks. The news said people were lining up 24 hours in advance at the stadium. A local bank (in Castle Rock) was trying to get rid of 12 tickets...I was tempted...but chickened out. I believe in the spirit world and would like to think that you have captured "energy orbs" aka spirits, but skeptic would say you caught reflections from the lights at Investco Field. Again -- Great photos! Last edited by Betsy; 08-29-2008 at 06:27 PM.. |
