Heart

I met Glenn in 2006 and he was kind and fun to talk to. My heart goes out to him and his family and close friends in their time of sorrow. So sad, so tragic.

Very sad to hear this.

Here's an article:

Man found dead at Theta Chi fraternity house, cause under investigation

News: Off The Press

An 18-year-old man was found dead in the Theta Chi fraternity house at 663 Gayley Ave. Saturday afternoon, Los Angeles Police Department officials said. He was not a UCLA student.

Police were called by friends who found Manhattan Beach resident Glen Parrish in bed at the house, said Los Angeles County coroner’s investigator Kitty McCracken. Parrish was pronounced dead at 2:10 p.m.

An overdose may be the cause of death, but it is still under investigation, said LAPD Sgt. Richard Brunson. Alcohol and possibly prescription drugs were believed to be involved, but police are still waiting for toxicology reports, Brunson said.

The death was not ruled a homicide, he said.

Parrish was believed to be visiting a friend at UCLA. It is possible he consumed the alcohol and drugs at a party that was not at the Theta Chi house, but that is still undetermined, Brunson said.

Compiled by Kylie Reynolds, Bruin senior staff.

It is the most horrible news. It made me think about how Stevie is in Oz at the moment and this terrible thing happens.

Default Glen Parrish's Son

I don't know if anyone else saw this, but Glen Parrish's son passed away from what seems an overdose. It looks like he was a young guy and that they tried to send him on the right path (boarding schools, rehab), but I guess it was too strong. It's a shame.

I'm glad someone started a thread about this here. I've been following it since I saw it on FB this weekend. For some reason it really hit me hard and I've been trying to get as much info as I can on what happened. There's not much so far. He was at UCLA partying over the weekend (he's not a student there) and they found him dead the next afternoon. The toxicology report is not back yet but they know it was drug/alcohol related. His name was also Glen Parrish. Glen senior has been posting about his loss and really wants others to learn from it. Very tragic. You know Glen's daughter is the young Stevie in the Secret Love video so I'm sure they are in close contact. She can't have taken the news well since Glen's been part of her life for so long. I wonder if she'll make a statement, probably not.

Father blames UCLA fraternity for son’s death
November 8, 2011 | 3:03 pm

The father of an 18-year-old man who died at a UCLA fraternity house after a night of partying accused the school's Theta Chi fraternity of negligence Tuesday.

Glen Berlin Parrish was pronounced dead Saturday afternoon after a night of drinking and possibly taking prescription medications.

"They found my son hunched over, in the back, and no one had the … decency to call the paramedics," his father, Glen Parrish Sr., told The Times. "They just put him in a bed to die."

"The negligence of the fraternity to not at least have someone walking around checking on people at night is beyond me," he said.

The Theta Chi fraternity's executive director, Michael Mayer, said that pending results of the investigation, the fraternity can neither confirm nor deny the presence of drugs and alcohol at the UCLA chapter that night.

A statement released Monday said the fraternity was "very saddened to learn of the death of Glen Parrish Jr." and sent its condolences to the family.

Parrish was not a UCLA student and was not a member of the fraternity.

Police responded to a call from the 600 block of Gayley Avenue, near the UCLA campus entrance, about 2 p.m. Saturday and pronounced Parrish dead at the scene.

Authorities determined there was no foul play in the death, said Ed Winter with the L.A. County coroner's office. Toxicology results could take up to eight weeks to complete.

Parrish's father said that his son "was really looking forward to" the party at the fraternity house on Friday.

By the evening, Parrish said eyewitnesses had told him that his son was incoherent in the back of a basketball court and had to be carried to a mattress by a friend. He was last seen alive about 4 a.m., Parrish said.

UCLA spokesman Phil Hampton said Monday that the school was cooperating with the LAPD's investigation and made counselors available over the weekend.

The younger Parrish had moved to Manhattan Beach from Arizona about a year ago and was excited about going to community college in January, his father said.

"He's a funny, outgoing, wonderful, amazing kid," Parrish Sr. said.
