It's great to hear that they're doing a tour, but does starting in what is essentially the beginning of October mean no new album? If so, that's not entirely great news.

Also, not to rain on the parade, but the whole Amex thing is just further proof that money is a big factor in this effort. These shows will surely sell out, and for those of us who don't use Amex, it essentially means we're going to end up paying premium prices at StubHub or elsewhere.

Not to mention the fact that tickets are going on sale 6+ months before the first shows. The Houston show is 8.5 months from the on sale date. That's just plain greed. They're trying to get all their money up front before they even start tour rehearsals.

Cheers,
matt
I find these extremely early ticket sales a bit odd, too. But here's my theory- they are doing it this way so they can finance recording. After all, I'm sure the band's days of seeing giant album advances is long over. They may not even have a record company contract until most of the songs are complete, either. There has to be a certain risk of an album not being completed- Christine high tailing it back to England, as an example. Maybe if these dates sell out quickly at this early of a date, it'll look encouraging to a record company. So perhaps this is all being laid out this way on purpose- to shore up their prospects with record labels.

TM/Livenation holds the proceeds from ticket sales in escrow until the day of the show, so your theory is not correct.

Hi All.

Heres the FM Ticketmaster ad I captured as i was recording this mornings interview on WNBC channel 4 NYC.

I'm not a fan of fall, winter and early spring concerts due to driving in bad icy weather.I was hoping for a summer tour.

I think I'm going to go to the two Bay Area shows, especially since they are a week and a half apart. Has anyone heard anything about the pre-sales?

Well, 2 dates actually, but on consecutive days.

In one of the print interviews Christine said it would be a world tour, so we probably don't even have half of the dates that will eventually roll out.

Due too the Ridiculously High Ticket Prices ... it ensure it will sell ...giving the buyer time to save or to justify buy paying the minimum on a credit card ,

Christine mentioned that they were breaking for Christmas but then would return to the US to "finish up" after New Years... before eventually hitting the rest of the world.

So it seems there will be a second leg. Hopefully with more southern dates.
