When the Mamas and Papas broke up in 1968, they still owed their record company one more album. Years later, they all got letters threatening to sue them for a million dollars for breach of contract. They reluctantly regrouped in 1971 and made an album just to avoid the fine.

As far as we know, both Stevie and Fleetwood Mac are now free agents. I hope they finally break the the chain with Warner Brothers and sign with an independent label.
That means we probably see 24K Two.That would be great.

That sheds some new light on the "I've got 3 months to record an album" piece....I wonder if Nicks is eager to complete the Warner contract in order to get signed somewhere else (maybe with former lover Iovine's Interscope?)?
That would be great if she goes over to Jimmy's label and maybe the Mac could too.

I was wondering if one of the reasons Stevie rushed to complete the 24KG album was to free herself up to sign with a new label at the same time FM was negotiating its deal. Seems like that could benefit both parties from a business standpoint.

I see Stevie staying with WB. She probably gets some satisfaction knowing a major label is still willing to have her on board.

At this point, neither Stevie Nicks nor Fleetwood Mac really need to be signed to a record label. They have enough cash between them to launch the new studio Fleetwood Mac album on their own steam.

Not sure why there would be such a rush for either of them to resign or find a new label. Certainly Stevie would have preferred luxury of time to make another solo album. Her contract was coming to a close and she was planning to record the one last album she owed them. But when Christine rejoined Fleetwood Mac and a tour was planned, it put a roadblock in Stevie's plan, and her commitment to the band took precedent. So then she had only a short window of time to record and deliver her album. Perhaps that is one of the factors in her choosing to mine her vault.

I assume Stevie's solo career business negotiations are independent of Fleetwood Mac's business negotiations. As far as we know, no announcements or decisions have been made in either party. I don't think anything will be decided or known until tour ends. Chances are they both resign to Warner, since they both seem wary to change. I think it would good for both of them to find a much cooler and fresher label, and keep Warner only for distribution.

According to billboard, 24K gold was only on the Top 200 for 2 weeks. Even SA was on the Top 200 for 10 weeks

This is a weird time in history. For the first time ever old, catalog albums are outselling new albums.

Got to remember 24K is more like a fan album. The average music fan probably will not buy it.They probably freeload it online or wait for it hits the $5 dollar discount bin at Walmart.

Speaking of Walmart . The other night I happen to pick up some Stevie and FM CDs out of the $5 dollar Walmart discount bin. They were Stevie's Belladonna CD,FMs 1975 White album and their 1988 green greatest hits CD.I've never seen Stevie or FM in the discount bins. Now I can replace those scratched well used CDs with these.

P'S Go check the bins out at your local Walmart. They might have some for you too.

I noticed the bins had some of the current artists CDs in it to.
