I also refuse to acknowledge rap/hip-hop (Not into beats or rhyming - It works for others so that's cool, just doesnt offer me the same)...No rap/hiphop to be found in my music collection, though I have plenty of discs by musicians of color such as Hendrix, Prince, Living Colour, Phil Lynott, Eric Gales Band, etc. (Not to mention artists such as the Spinners, the Four Tops, Peaches & Herbs, Tina Turner, WAR, etc.)
well, we're opposites in that regard because i have much more love for rap/hip hop than i do for metal. i'm willing to give individual metal artists/bands a shot, but i really just don't enjoy the overall "metal" sound. i would say it's because i'm too girly, but then why the hell do i like rap? it's certainly not because i find tupac hot.

musicianship moreso than lyrical content, so alot of the time I enjoy metal just for the musicianship aspect (And yes, Sometimes I could care less what a song is about as long as the music is interesting).

As much as I have tried to be open minded for some music, I just cannot get into vocally dominated music like most Ledgies (Nothing wrong with liking vocally dominated music - Whatever floats anyones boat is fine by me). Hell, I even like techno & trance music

It's funny, I grew up with a majority of my school friends being of color and I don't recall rap being the music they enjoyed (Could've been because it was in its infancy back then)- They enjoyed R&B, Dance and Soul music, which I do like.

wtf? lol. I love Alice, If I Were You and Kick It. plus, SA doesn't suck. you have to have an exquisite ear to appreciate it.

I've thought about this topic for a while and I'm still compiling, will post mine later.

OMG! Alice is just...annoying! I love the first 10 seconds of it but the vocals and tune that Stevie is singing in doesn't fit the music AT ALL! I can't STAND If I Were You - it's on a par with The Nightmare for the worst song on RAL. Kick It is just....naff. I love half of Street Angel but the rest of it is just...naff. Yeh. Naff just about sums it up. Who else thinks that's "God's Garden" should've been the last song on SA instead of Jane
