Was Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac on Ed Sullivan?
I was reading the article which appeared in August 2013 Guitar and Bass magazine. The article mentioned that in the U.S, tour before the release of Mr Wonderful, the band appeared on Ed Sullivan. Did this happen? I never saw any video posted or a mention of this. Has anyone seen any reference to this before or remembers seeing it?

I've never heard this either . In the Peter Green doc ,Mick says that they were sitting around for two weeks desperately trying to get gigs ,and when they did get one they offered to play longer for free or do a second set . This would indicate that they were unknown in the USA so they'd be doing pretty well to be invited to do a major (national ?)chatshow .Doesn't seem likely to me !

Very unlikely if not impossible. They barely appeared on UK tv !
I believe there is a complete list of musical guests for the Ed Sullivan Show which i have somewhere. I certainly don't remember seeing the Mac on it or on any tradelist/official/unofficial video or mentioned in any book ever written about the Green era. File under lazy-ass journalism. |
