The list is meaningless. I wouldn't worry about it.
I do wonder where I ended up on that list though?

Yes, this list is meaningless, and oddly subjective.

Who actually compiled it? Why did they select the most unlikely photo of him? And out of all his own signiture songs, why did they choose Rhiannon?

Cleary the editor was rolling stoned...and ignorant.

b/c rhiannon was at one time on one of RS lists, and it's FM song - so whoever wrote the text thought LB must probably be playing guitar on it

#73. Kurt Cobain.

Really? Really?! Now, I love Kurt almost, if not as much as I love Lindsey, but no way should he be above Lindsey...or even on the list for that matter. We are talking about guitarists...right?

But at least Lindsey even made the list. I was kind of surprised.

I also think Robert Johnson should have been a little higher. But then again, he was only good because of that deal he made with the Devil at the crossroads, right?

Caroline,

I think we can all agree that this list is a botched shame. No way in HELL is Kurt Cobain even in the same general space as LB as a guitarist. It's laughable really.

And bloody frustrating!

He's Number One as far as I'm concerned!

I have to say even beyond my personal love for Lindsey, his talent is clearly deserving of at least the top 20, and perhaps top 3. Like everyone has said, this list is just silly.

I let my subscription run out long ago....I didnt even look at this list

I believe they already did a 100 greatest guitarists list a few years back and he was not on the list. I remember reading in the letters to the editor section that they got the most emails for keeping LB, Bonnie Raitt and someone else (Slash?) off the list and pictures of all three of them. So I think they probably only added him to keep the comments down, but this is more of an insult than keeping him off the list....

I remember they published a letter from Patty Smyth saying how outraged she was over the entire list. It was great. (her letter, not the list)

^ I think Pete Townshend at #50 makes me more mad than LB being off the list

Excerpt from an Interview with Dough "Cosmo" Clifford

Stuff.Co.Nz 12/1/2011
http://www.stuff.co.nz/entertainment...ford-Interview

This triggers a memory of Fleetwood Mac - another band that's carried on along the road, members shifting, the music just keeps on drifting...and Clifford remembers seeing the Peter Green-helmed version of the band. "They would come out and hand around a bottle - and you know it wasn't the only thing that had been consumed. And they'd take the lid off and pass the bottle into the crowd. But they were just a great, great band. There was no question. Just awesome stuff. Very inspiring. Later they went in a whole new direction with the girls on board - and they nailed that too. I mean, they were one of the biggest bands in the world. I always felt that Lindsey Buckingham was an underrated guitarist; really an extraordinary guitarist."
