Your favourite from each songwriter?
What album is, in your opinion, the best group of songs from each individual songwriter? Not just the Rumours crew.
For example: Even though I haven't heard all the Peter Green albums I'd pick Then Play On as the best of Green and probably Kirwan as well because I think that if any of those albums is better than this one then I'm seriously missing out until I can get it! I'd say Stevie's best stuff would be on Rumours or Tusk. Most of her best work is from the 70's IMO, but I also really enjoyed her SYW stuff so I'd put it up there as well, maybe. Chris is harder... She has a very consistent quality the whole way though. I love her Rumours stuff, Oh Daddy is a favourite of mine. Her Tusk stuff could be my favourite some days. Just love it. TITN has some amazing Chris songs. I think I could probably chose that as my favourite from her, but I'm not sure. Lindsey's stuff I can't chose easily. I really like all his stuff off all the albums. If I was really forced to chose I think I might go for SYW with Tusk a close second. Though really it depends on what day it is. So what about everyone else? Where do you think each songwriter shined brightest? I would have asked what album you thought John and Mick gave the best performances on but I've yet to hear a bad one! Especially from John. |

Peter: TPO - but not much of a choice there as it's the only proper album of self-penned songs that he did with the Mac.
Jeremy: Kiln House Danny: Bare Trees, definitely on the top of his game here Christine: Mirage, or, gasp, even Time. Bob: Bare Trees has two big favourites on it, but only two. Heroes Are Hard To Find it is. Dave: Penguin Stevie: The White Album, two signature tunes and an obscure enough classic. Lindsey: Tusk, followed by TITN and SYW. Billy: BTM, if only for When The Sun Goes Down Rick: BTM Bekka & Dave: Time Oh, and I'll most definitely prefer Mick's writing credit on Fighting For Madge to These Strange Times.

Quote:
Chris - Mystery To Me/TITN Lindsey - Tusk/SYW Stevie - Tusk/Mirage I plead the 5th on the other songwriting members, I don't feel familiar enough with their work to give an opinion. |

Peter Green: English Rose, Then Play On
Danny Kirwan: English Rose, Future Games Jeremy Spencer: Mr. Wonderful Bob Welch: Mystery To Me, Heroes Are Hard To Find Christine McVie: Penguin, Mystery To Me, Behind The Mask Lindsey Buckingham: Say You Will Stevie Nicks: Rumours Billy Burnette: Behind The Mask Rick Vito: Behind The Mask (SESSIONS)...his best work ("Got No Home" & "Intuition"), recorded for this album, didn't make the final cut...but "Stand On The Rock" did?!? I'd like to know who had the final decision on that one. Dave Mason: Time (duh)...his two songs sounded as good as any of his solo tunes...and, I think, even better than the tunes on the couple of albums of his just prior to Time. Bekka Bramlett: Time (duh)...she didn't write it, but "Winds Of Change" is one of my Top 10 Fleetwood Mac songs of all-time. Mick Fleetwood: Well, after "Lizard People" & "These Strange Times", I would like to hear more from him.

I was just thinking about this...glad someone made a thread about it. BTW it would also be interesting to see what people thought were the worst for each songwriter (just a suggestion)
Ok I like a bit here and there on each album...uhhhhh overall Bob Welch- Mystery To Me and Heroes Danny- Bare Trees Christine- Tusk, Tango and Heroes Stevie- Rumours, Tusk, and Mirage Lindsey- Tusk, SYW Billy Burnette- I'll get back to you on this one I didn't add some of the other's because they just did one album and I didn't add Peter or Jermery because I haven't really heard of all the stuff.
