What? I do not think Stevie really "blows" Lindsey away. Back in her BellaDonna days, I could understand the comment but not now. They both really bring totally different qualities to the table, so it is unfair to compare them. Personally, I feel Stevie's music lacks something when Lindsey does not produce it. (I love Jimmy's work, too)

Anyway, the performance was great and I loved the arrangement. I didn't see any smirk at the end, just his nervous smile.

I thought this performance was really good. very impassioned. He looks great as well. I don't own UTS (only heard it once and not liked it at all...but...I have to say this was actually very cool and most impressive..so much so, I might be inclined to look at other youtube performances)

That was one rocking SUD! Thanks for the clip!

Not sure if the band adds anything of real significance to it but at least it's something different again.

Hey Gaius, I thought that the grooving cuban actually added bigtime on the song. The guy just friggin puts a rythmpattern on it which makes you even search for the beat more than ever , but at the same time there's a very definite and secure base in the song now, that holds it back more from the vulnerability of the original. It became somethin' else! I hope wally's going into the studio with him next time soon.

BTW; thanks for posting and whoever doesn't like this: For me it's simply unimaginable that there are people who don't see, but even more, FEEL the brilliance and originality in this.

I just watched it on YouTube and maybe I'm stilling feeling the effects of having a wee bit too much to drink last night, but I got a little teary eyed.
That arrangement was fantastic!

With or without booze, original, live or this arrangement, that song ALWAYS hits my soul. I'm just happy that I'm not the only one TwistedGypsy!

Simply incredible performance... *sigh*

The man is greatness and I'm so glad a little of the world is getting a taste of it. He needs to do more of these talk shows and spread the word even more!!

I liked that arrangement, but I still prefer it as just a single guitar and voice. Variety never hurts though and kudos to Lindsey for shaking things up a bit. I'd like to hear it without the other guys on guitar (or maybe a bit more subtle) but with Wally still doing percussion. I loved what he was doing on this song.

I'll definitely be giving this one plenty more plays!

Thanks Macfan for uploading it.

I have to say, I LOVE the musical arrangement, very nice work there. I especially love the ending. Top notch performance. The one thing that I could again criticize is the way he forces his voice on "looooohoooooong" near the end. I've commented on that before, I hate it when he does that. But other than that... splendid.

That and the fact that he was horribly "pitchy" in the first 10-20 seconds of the song. His pitch is just not that reliable...which is always extremely noticable on TV. That said, his guitar playing was incredible. That song has grown on me. I much prefer the way he sings it live than the whispery vocal on the recording.

I forgot about that connection. Ellen really seemed to enjoy the performance and justifiably so. Shut Us Down sounded great. Who is Lindsey's new percussionist?

I love this version of Shut Us Down. Hopefully someone can rip it to mp3.

At least he played a NEW song, and even THAT one in a NEW arrangement.

Come on, Strandie, at LEAST she could have picked something more "recent" and surprising. And at LEAST you could have commented something more cheerful about Lindsey's choice.
If I had to choose the better performance, I would choose Lindsey's. Even Ellen seemed to enjoy it more. She kept saying "That was great" over and over.

Walfredo (Wally) Reyes Jr. "the groovin' Cuban"

He definately rocks bigtime. And he looks .
