Peter Green covers
For some time now I have been thinking about whom else has recorded tracks written by Peter Green.
There is the obvious one of Santana with BMW, and there are several others that I can think of. I think that it would be interesting in its diversity.... |

Aside from tribute album tracks, other ones I can think of off the top of my head:

Of course there has been the Rick Vito covers both for his solo albums and for the Mick Fleetwood Blues Band - Rattlesnake Shake, I Loved Another Woman, Albatross, etc
Plus Billy Burnette did a cover of Oh Well on his Memphis in Manhattan album and Bob Welch did Black Magic Woman on "His Fleetwood Mac Years and Beyond Two" album. |

Man Of The World - Justin Hayward (of the Moody Blues)
Man Of The World - Midge Ure (of Ultravox) Black Magic Woman - Dennis Brown (it be reggae, mon!) Stop Messin' Round - Gary Moore (well, then there's the entire Blues For Greeny album he did) Rattlesnake Shake - ZZ Top (live only, not recorded, well, released anyway) Oh Well - Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers - doodyhead beat me to the punch while I was typing this! Green Manalishi - The Melvins (great version, too) Oh Well Parts 1 & 2 - Bob Welch All the tunes on the Rattlesnake Guitar tribute album.

Thanks, ChiliD - totally forgot about the Melvins' version!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DB19kSIrFNc Agree, it's pretty cool - they clearly "get" the song while the better-known Judas Priest version completely misses the mark. And, from Wikipedia, here are other Green Manalishi cover versions: The song was covered by the Melvins on their 1999 album The Maggot. The song was covered by Steel on their 1998 Heavy Metal Machine EP. The song was covered by Arthur Brown on the 1997 tribute album, "Rattlesnake Guitar: The Music of Peter Green." The song was covered by Therion, though they were actually covering Judas Priest's version. The song was covered by Ian Parker on his 2005 live album ...Whilst the Wind. The song was covered by Corrosion of Conformity on their 1983 album Eye for an Eye. Just noticed that the Wikipedia article states that Fleetwood Mac recorded "The Green Manalishi" and "World in Harmony" in April 1970 - in Hollywood. Ummm....I don't think so. They may have done that, ohwell - but they obviously weren't anywhere near Hollywood in April 1970, contrary to what the Wikipedia article says. That's all I wanted to point out.
