Thumbs down Heart and Soul Tour

Am I the only one that thought Stevie was majorly disrespected during the Heart and Soul tour with Rod Stewart? When the tour was announced they both stated besides their own material they would join eachother on stage to both sing songs in their sets. Stevie surely had a bunch of duets to choose from. But when the tour started, people scratched their heads since there was none of the "joining each other" on stage to sing. After a few more tour stops, Stevie did join Rod Stewart on his stage to sing along with some of his songs. At a few stops they sung Leather and Lace on his stage and he had to read the lyrics and he did a horrible job. That lasted only a few times and then there were no more "joint" operations.
I get that Rod as a solo artist probably sold more records and is bigger than Stevie as a solo artist (although I may not agree with that). So I get that Stevie sort of "opened' the show. But Rod must have had a HUGE ego to NEVER join Stevie on her stage to sing any songs. When Stevie and Don Henley toured together, Stevie came out to sing Hotel California and other songs with Don. She made it clear it was a duo tour and Don was not an opening act. But it appears Rod made it clear that Stevie was an opening act for him even though that is not how the show was promoted. I would love to ask Stevie about this. She has never been an opening act for anyone since Jimi Hendrix. I just felt she was disrespected.

Thumbs down

I didn't even like the way he treated her during the Ellen show when the announcement was made.

Stevie said Rod is not one for rehearsing at all, while she rehearses everything to death. So one can imagine that Rod might have done like one quickie rehearsal of L&L (if any at all) and was happy with it…. and I bet she was stressed. THen when the performance didn't go so well……… I wouldn't be surprised if she (thru her people) was the one to pull the plug. Totally opposite approaches and attitudes about performing.

The whole Heart & Soul tour is still just baffling to me. Whose idea was it- Stevie's or her management/PR team? In other words, was Stevie not having the idea of having to begin touring in much smaller venues, since her solo concert draw had diminished? Or was this her management/PR team's answer to exposing her to a new audience? Because it seems like either way, the promotion of In Your Dreams the album was deemed to be unimportant. Stevie's career has certainly had a lot of frustrating WTF moments, but this one ranks near the top for me.

I thought I read somewhere that Rods kids want to have Stevie tour with him.

I know one thing .It screwed up her IYD release. The timing was wrong.

BTW.It was great seeing Rod live and he's a great entertainer at his shows.I always enjoyed his tunes.

Absolutely! Her album might have done better if the Rod thing never happened.
