Default Heart Reunite for All-Star ‘Love Alive’ Summer Tour

Sheryl Crow, Brandi Carlile, Joan Jett & The Heartbreakers and Elle King to join Wilson sisters on road at select dates

Three years after family drama threatened to tear Heart apart, Nancy and Ann Wilson will reunite for a summer tour. The Love Alive trek will feature, on select dates, a combination of special guests like Sheryl Crow, Brandi Carlile and Joan Jett & The Heartbreakers as well as openers Elle King and Lucie Silvas.

“I could see it was time for Heart to have a break,” Nancy Wilson said in a statement of the band’s self-described “temporary hiatus.” “We’d been slogging through tour after tour fairly nonstop and were starting to burn out a little bit. Things had just reached a heavy climax. Working with my other new band Roadcase Royale was a lifesaver. Writing brand new songs playing shows and delivering a new album with them was the medicine my soul needed.”

In August 2016, Ann’s husband was arrested backstage at Heart’s Auburn, Washington concert on charges that he assaulted Nancy’s teenaged sons. Although Heart managed to finish out their 2016 tour, the incident splintered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame-inducted sisters.

Ann Wilson added, “Both Nancy and I have stretched our wings in life these last three years. We’ve both lived and loved. We have breathed and traveled and experienced life. We come to this tour with fresh energy and oxygen.”

The Love Alive trek begins July 9th in St. Louis and spreads 39 gigs across two months, closing September 9th with a concert at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl. Tickets for the tour go on sale to the general public on February 15th at Live Nation.

As for the band’s all-star guests, Nancy Wilson said, “I think this year is a good year to show the collective impact of some powerful women in music. We would usually steer clear of the female-centric concept, but in the light of current events it seems like the right statement at the right time.”

Sheryl and Joan we have known for a long time,” Ann Wilson added. “We have hung out and appreciated each other’s music onstage and off. Brandi Carlile is a fresh and authentic artist that we both love… and Elle King is my favorite new artist. She has so much soul and attitude! We are so thrilled to host all these artists on the ‘Love Alive’ tour.

i love love love all of them. i saw Elle King in 9:30 club couple of years ago, she's great. i saw Sheryl twice, a great performer. Brandi is amazing - so happy she's finally getting some mainstream recognition. i remember her pic with Lindsey backstage several years ago, gushing about him, when Lindsey went to see her gig in between Mac tour dates. never saw Joan Jett or Heart and seeing them together would have been such a treat! and argh - i already have tickets for Bryan Ferry at the Anthem the evening Heart / Jett / King are at MPP.
