Default What birds have you seen lately?

Inspired by my hefty Audubon Society Encyclopedia of North American Birds, I have been going outside with my binoculars the past couple of days. These are the ones I have been able to identify. What birds can you see?

White Winged Dove (yes! No, it does not only nest in the saguaro cactus in Phoenix.) This is probably the most common bird I see. There were three in my backyard earlier.

Mourning Dove

Blue Jay

Cardinal

Red-Bellied Woodpecker

I didn't take these pictures myself.

I saw a red wing hawk yesterday, and I was so excited. This thread had perfect timing

Edit:

Unfortunately, my hawk didn't have an awesome piggy backer.

I didn't take these pics but here are a few that we have in our yard in spring/summer:

Indigo Bunting

Great Northern Flicker

Red-Breasted Nuthatch

Purple Finch

Rose-Breasted Grossbeak

Starling

Brown-Headed Cowbird

Winter Wren

...and of course cardinals, blue jays, mourning doves, grackles, goldfinches, hawks and woodpeckers.

I pretty much only see Robins and Cardinals around my house. But there are about 10 million of those.

OMG, bird excitement. I was sitting on the deck and a hawk landed on a branch up high. It was picking at something. Then a small bird started crashing into it! It would would slam into the hawk, fly away, and slam into it again! I wondered if the small bird was trying to protect a nearby nest. When the hawk flew away, I could see it had a mouse or rat in its talons. And the small bird kept right after it! It was kind of funny.
