I'm sorry, but I'm mad at Stephanie. That WSS / IOOT comparison PROVES this should have been a Mac ablum.

I agree with this... but here's something interesting.

"And Nicks predicts Fleetwood Mac isn't done, though the group will have to wait for her and "In Your Dreams" as well as Buckingham and his forthcoming album "Seeds We Sow," which is due in September and which Nicks says is "really my favorite thing he's ever done -- and I wish he had saved all these amazing songs for Fleetwood Mac."

Oh, I really like her talking about planning for new FM material in the future and not just the inevitable nostalgia tour. Michele

I wish Lindsey hadn't had to wait to release them as Mac songs. That said, after hearing In Your Dreams today... I'm glad SHE got THAT out of her system.

I'm glad we've had three Lindsey solo albums rather than a Mac one because at this stage I don't think Stevie adds anything to Lindsey's work, though I think he helps hers. My ideal situation would be a Lindsey solo album with John and Mick.

Until the end of time, I will feel he's the best collaborator for her (until she submits to the Pet Shop Boys) and I'll say his songs always sound better sandwiched between songs by female artists.

for me personally, no. i usually listen to Tusk Lindsey's songs only. sometimes i add SOTM, BC and angel to the mix. and think about me. also SYW - lindsey's songs only, plus destiny rules, and no say goodbye.

Men of Mac... that's what i used to think too, but after hearing these new songs, i'm thinking Neale, Wally and Brett are actually good influence on Lindsey's creative process... didn't he say he was planning on acoustic album but then Wally was around, etc etc, and album kinda wanted to take rocking turn instead?

I agree with this to an extent... In fact, in my original post I almost said "with John and Mick as long as he keeps Neale, Wally and Brett around as well" because I think that, even though it's a Lindsey solo project, when it comes to the live shows they feel like a band. Sure, they all leave Lindsey to have the spotlight but there is real chemistry between them all and it's great.

I'd maybe go as far as to say: just bring in John so we have a dedicated bass player and leave Brett to do guitar, keyboards, backing vocals etc. I love Wally and he works great on Lindsey's solo stuff so I guess Mick can tour with his Blues band?

A "Men of Mac" album and tour - how fabulous would that be!

But I'm greedy, I want FM as well.

Oh, yeah...I thought you meant she had actually said it was about her.

Nothing - NOTHING - will convince me that they don't still release material that references their relationship, whether directly, indirectly, thematically, historically or in the present day. They developed a fairly simple and overt technique at the time of Rumours of speaking to and about each other in that way, when they couldn't communicate as people any more, and it has carried on, on both sides. And I'd suggest you have to be being wilfully perverse not to interpret at least some of these 'latest' LB lyrics that way?

I also think that Kristen Buckingham understands completely the various roles that SN plays in her husband's life: muse, friend, colleague, nemesis ... Really healthy relationships can cope with that kind of honesty and complexity. And of course it's all that much easier when you remember that SN doesn't actually want LB any more either!

And ok. I don't think Secret Love was written about LB. But I definitely do connect its revival in the new album to him. When I hear, "we've already passed it," I compare that to "We crossed the line."

What's interesting to me is that they both started using recurring symbols before FM and they still use those same symbols today and they are symbols that they share. You can say they are very common and all songwriters use them, but Christine wasn't running around winning, losing and drawing lines all over the place.

Christine has done "Who's Dreaming This Dream," but Lindsey and Stevie use "dream" with inordinate regularity and I cannot help but connect their separate dreams to each other.

Michele
