You know I always cherished John’s line, “I meant, leave the room,” because along with the humor, I always felt a sense of regret behind those words.

There’s no regret now, only ego and hostility.

You've beaten me to it every time.

Let's not forget, Karen was also the intermediary when Stevie was playing music too loud in her dressing room when they were next door to Lindsey when the reporter was there for the Rolling Stone cover story on Stevie in the middle of a FLEETWOOD MAC tour.

She's in the middle of it all.

Maybe Karen will be end up being one of the "Does" in the lawsuit.

Never said you did mention Power, I was just making an observation that this PA seems to hold a lot of power.

Just re-watched the scene from Destiny Rules.

Karen complains to Lindsey that he's wasting time by not booking Chris Lord-Alge for the mixing session. Lindsey explains that his manager couldn't get the deal finalized with Lord-Alge because of demands for commitments that Lindsey (and the band) were not prepared to make. Lindsey calls his manager with a view toward putting him on the phone with Stevie/Karen so they can get briefed–and voice their concerns–directly. But as soon as Lindsey says, "They're pointing fingers at us," Stevie flies off the handle and denies that's what they were doing – though that is what they were doing.

I see the point, but irrespective of how Karen speaks to him here I still don't think Lindsey should be yelling at someone else's assistant (and yes, I realize that's not necessarily what happened in the wake of the Musicares walkout music).

Someone else’s assistant shouldn’t be making decisions for Fleetwood Mac if she doesn’t want a response from actual members of Fleetwood Mac.

There is a hierarchy in a band, just as there is in any business organization. the band members themselves are far more critical to the success of the band than any staffers. Thus, Lindsey and Stevie are more critical and have a higher position than Karen. This is regardless of how close or dependent or whatever Stevie is to Karen. In business, you are correct, normally one manager doesn't chastise an employee who works for a different manager, but rather they speak manager to manager. However, the additional aspect of this rule is that an employee of one manager doesn't go in to another manger for whom they do not work and proceed to chastise that manager.

However, that was the very position that STEVIE put Karen into-- making Karen complain directly to Lindsey on her behalf rather than having the guts to do it herself. If Karen is going to directly confront Lindsey, then as others have noted, she has to be prepared that Lindsey will react directly to her. And Stevie can't get upset about it, because she's the one that created the situation.

Then that would probably be a mistake within Fleetwood Mac. I think back to my years in a tribute band. We were set up more or less the way we've heard Fleetwood Mac is set up: every member was politically the equal of every other member. Nobody was "the boss."

Being in a band plays all sorts of nasty behavioral mojo on the individuals; it's a swamp of psychological hoodoo. Fragile egos are amplified fifty fold. The mildest comments can trigger volcanic responses. I don't know why this happens in band settings, but it does. I guess it's something to do with playing and singing and trying to sound better than you are when you know deep down you don't. The rock band environment is fraught with disillusion, self-consciousness, and rage. And that's on a good day—like a decent rehearsal or a successful show where people danced.

There were occasions in my band experience when someone's wife continually attended rehearsals (closed rehearsals). That was bad enough for everyone's nerves. But the wife also started offering unsolicited "advice"—in other words, started behaving as if she were a member of the band, a political equal. The rest of us, being disillusioned, self-conscious, and angry introverts in a hypersensitive state, took it and stewed for several weeks. But it all finally blew up when one or two of us reached their limit.

If Karen's not in the band, she has no business intruding on band space offering her "advice" or carrying out her boss's dictates. In fact, if Fleetwood Mac didn't have a "close" policy (where they regulate the activity and presence of non-members), they should have. It's one thing to have someone like Judy Wong around for band discussions—she was a band employee. But Karen Johnston is not a band employee. She's a Stevie Nicks employee.

You’re right. And once you undertake tasks that impact others in FM and not just Stevie, you aren’t really just Stevie’s employee or assistant, any longer.

Well, the soap opera really begins when we get their response to the lawsuit. I am sure it will enumerate every thing Lindsey allegedly did wrong, over the last 45 years. #1. Refused to use a finger pic ....

If the lawsuit survives they will settle. I almost wish it wouldn’t because I want leaks from the deposition transcripts.

#6012 didn't let Stevie steal his children, so she could continue calling them her own.
