stupid questions

hello everyone! i have a few stupid questions that are really confusing me so i have decided to ask you all because you are sure to know!

firstly, who is curry grant? is he that guy on the backstage rumours tapes with christine while shes playing backgammon with that other guy, who looks like lindsey & im pretty sure people are calling curry, or is it this guy?-



and if not, who is this guy??

and also, whats going on in this picture? i thought john & chris were quite broken up by this time?? -

yeah, they were broken up, she was tormenting him. She was actually only kissing his nose, BTW, but he looked terrified LOL.

The other guy I think was the band's Karate instructor, wasn't he? what the heck was his name...it's definitely not Curry-- Curry is the guy on that japanese backstage tape, as you said, playing the backgammon w/ her w/ the dark curls and the mustache.

That's what I think, too. There are two shots of him in the polaroid section of the Tusk tourbook. I think he's one of the guys the band hired in 1977 or 1978 from the Richard Norton group to teach Macsters some self-defense. Maybe some of these guys even served as security, along with Wayne & Dennis.

(remember that virtually all the candid & live shots in the Tusk tourbook are from 1978 or earlier)

I didn't know these guys were hired to teach the band self-defense. I just thought they were hired for security(as bodyguards). It's pretty funny picturing Christine or any of them doing karate or something like that.

Actually Christine doing Karate is really scary. I wouldn't want to get on her wrong side anyway but if she could do Karate as well - it doesn't bear thinking about!

Probably the only thing (besides Lindsey badgering Stevie on stage) that would instigate that kind of response from her would be if somebody spilled her bottle of Blue Nun.

The man in this picture is J.C - John Courage, the bands manager in the 70s.

Don't have a picture... However, I remember John Courage being blonde...
And that he was the Road Manager.....

And just WOW that he's working for PRG! Though I usually only work with them on corporate gigs..... I'll have to look out for the lighting guy instead of just the sound guy ( I can't do anything without the sound guy! )

This is what Mick wrote about Curry:
John and Chris were only nominally married at that point. Actually, she'd been seeing our lighting director, Curry Grant, in secret while we were on the road. John suspected something was going on. He'd say to me, "He's doing her, you know." And I'd say, "No, no, no, John, it's all in your mind." Soon Curry started having trouble with the rest of the crew; they saw what was happening and didn't like it. It got so Curry couldn't ride in the van with the rest of them. Colonel Courage would berate the readies, and they'd say they hated Curry 'cause he was messing around with Christine. So the colonel and I confronted her, and she told us it was true. John was very upset, and we fired Curry because it was disrupting the band. Chris was told it had to be that way, and she understood.
