I'm English

I should not have replied to the Guy Ritchie question as it was directed to seekerj. It's so rare I have an answer to a ledgie question that I chimed in!

I've lived in the US (from London) for about 3 years now and I encounter daily American English / English differences--it's not easy!

I can't help but wish the name of this thread was the sequel to Stevie's TISL.

I hear there's trouble in Wickhambreaux...
I run over the grass,
I run over the... hey, what's this barbed wire fence doing here?!!

p.s. I am almost incandescent with rage about this whole thing, but especially the paps going after Chris and photographing her when she was walking the dogs. For god's sake, she came back here in the first place to get away from the media circus and to live a normal life - can't they just either use an old photo, or, less likely, not run such a trivial and inaccurate story?

Oh, not at all! Thanks for answering the question! Especially since you gave the right answer! lol!

I can imagine it must be difficult sometimes with the differences. If you ever have any questions about any American English expressions, please don't hesitate to ask!

This is great! I had never heard that one, either! I'm learning so much!

My apologies to everyone for hijacking the thread.

I wouldn't piss her off for anything.

I don't know. I really hate seeing that pic. She does look old in it. Her teeth look bad, sort of.

If I were her, even if I weren't still in the public view, and had her money, I think I'd keep up on my plastic surgery. Seriously.

But what is a 66 year old woman supposed to look like? Personally I prefer her looking like that (and I must admit I don't understand what is so shocking about it. She just looks her age, probably a little younger actually) rather than Joan Rivers or something, who looks like an alien. At least Christine still looks real and recognisable as herself. She's been out of the public eye for the last seven years, if she doesn't feel the need to get plastic surgery why should she go through the pain and discomfort for the sake of a few fans with unrealistic expectations of how an almost 70-year old woman should look?

If she doesn't care, that's one thing. But looking good, usually makes one feel better about themselves.

If I were her, I'd have em stitch that skin back so tight! "Alright Doc, make me look like I'm 18!" Really, that pic bothers me, because she looks VERY MUCH like the wife of a drummer I play with....and she's pure evil. So I really don't like that pic.
