Arrow Mick: "World's Quietest Concert"

http://abclocal.go.com/wls/news/0411...fleetwood.html

Legendary rock superstar Mick Fleetwood is inviting you to a concert that you have to hear to believe. The legendary drummer of Fleetwood Mac kicked off a program aimed at hearing loss prevention by hosting the "World's Quietest Concert" from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, where he and the other members of Fleetwood Mac were inducted in 1998.

Fleetwood is lending his talents to the "It's Hip to Hear" program, a national cause-related initiative that (ASHA). Now he's drumming out an important message for his baby boomer fans' hearing health and music lovers everywhere--how to keep rockin' responsibly.

Fleetwood and a panel of hearing industry experts measured the noise levels during the concert, which was performed by the up-and-coming hard rock band Eagles of Death Metal. Instead of using speakers and amplifliers as in traditional concerts, the band simulcast their live vocals and music through portable FM radio headsets, powered by Energizer e2 Titanium Technology batteries.

the concert Enuff Z'Nuff played for a school of the deaf years ago, Complete with 'signers' to translate the lyrics via American Sign Language.

the Mick/money references have grown reallllllllllly tiresome. I don't know Mick personally but I do know people who do know him and I can assure you - he's not the money-obsessed corporate rocker that a lot of you make him out to be. (You'd be surprised to hear about the places I've seen him around southern california - eating dinner and listening to music like the rest of us normal folks). In a world where the news is dominated by George W. Bush-fueled corporate sleaze, I'm suprised how many of you constantly bash the man who has carved out so many great rhythm tracks for the band we love over the years.
How's that for a run-on sentence? Dave Eggers would be proud.

In all seriousness.... I don't think Mick wants a nice life for himself and his family any more than the rest of us. So let's all try to appreciate his musical talent and not be so focussed on the $$$. It's gotten really boring.

Just my 2 cents.
