It's funny how far Fleetwood Mac fell after TUSK.
Lindsey must have pretty much given up on critical
success and just gave the rest of the band and the
record company just what they wanted. Sugary coated
pop that just makes me want to vomit.

I voted for Eyes Of The World just because it's
one of the few listenable songs on the record.

Lindsey proved he could do something else with Tusk. He had already proved he is a mastermind of commercial pop. There are few who can take a song and make it into a song that will become unforgettable, an essential part of the soundtrack of people's lives. I love what he does as an artist and it makes me respect his work all the more, but at the end of the day it's important to understand in the music business that people want something catchy that they can sing to.

Meet me down by the railway station...and we'll make out behind the locomotive.

I chose Straight Back. To me, it's the spiritual successor to songs such as Rhiannon, Gold Dust Woman, and Sisters Of The Moon... all of which are my all time fav songs. I think I'm also partial to the song for my own reasons. The first time I ever heard it I was in a window seat on an airplane listening to Mirage (which I'd just gotten for my birthday) while flying over the Grand Canyon & Lake Mead. I can't describe how almost metaphysical of an experience it was for me to see such incredible scenery with such a gorgeously mystical song complimenting the experience. To this day, every single time I hear Straight Back it takes me back to that memory. And I know it has certainly altered my opinion of the song, and I'm just fine with that.

I have often described it this same way to other FM fans. I was hoping the trend would continue on Tango but I guess by that time she no longer wrote such mystical themed songs.

Since the little wing flying straight back to the sun always reminded me of Icarus and Daedalus, if I'd heard the song while in high altitudes, surrounded by the sky, the memory would have stayed with me as well.
