(You’re reminded of Stevie’s words in “Gypsy” — “Faces freedom with a little fear, I have no fear, I have only love” — when you think about the guy in this song, moving on.)

Stevie has great ones — “Destiny Rules,” “Goodbye Baby,” “Illume” — but the edge goes to LB.

I only wish the album had been engineered by Dashut and Caillat. It’s a painfully top-heavy, overcompressed experience to listen to it. I can barely tolerate it.
Yep hard to listen to for exactly the reasons you cite.

And I agree about the lyrics to Say Goodbye.... quite profound actually.

Yes—for me, Red River and Say Goodbye are the gems here. Just when I thought his best days were behind him, he turned in these performances. Wow. Just wow.

They are all stellar. Lindsey really shines. However just like when you play fantasy football and have your best week, you happen to play the opponent who also has their best game ever. Its almost a tie which says a lot since Stevie is known for being such a good song writer. Songs like Thrown Down, Everybody Finds Out, and Destiny Rules are out of this world. So my nod would go to Stevie just barely.
