Default Why

I just posted 2 more videos on YouTube, both versions of "Why" from the 1975-76 era.

Thanks for these!
It baffles me why they didn't continue to do this live because, not only is it arguably one of Christine's finest ever tracks, but also, how incredible are Stevie and Lindsey's backing vocals on that song? I think it would have become one of the centrepieces of their concerts.

THANK YOU!! I LOVE that song. It's awesome, especially with those harmonies!

The Rhiannon & the Over My Head were finally put out on DVD, but not the World Turning or the Why. Let's go, late-night TV!

Or, how about "Believe Me" & "Miles Away" from their Midnight Special appearance in 1973??

For me, Chris' best song ever together with Over & Over.

Okay. I drove from the San Francisco Bay Area to my home in So. Cal. today and listened to my iPod for 5.5 hours, which has lots of FM stuff that you kind and generous people have supplied. This is the perfect (sorry if this sounds like a pun) example of why (sorry, again) the 2009 tour doesn't sound like something I would put out $$$ for -- this is an example of how the songwriter/singer is front and center and the rest become the back-up to that person. Eg., I was listening to the Rumours-era version of "Station Man," and it's okay, but. . . . If someone else does Christine's songs on this 2009 tour, it will be like all of the retro-bands I've watched on PBS Specials -- yeah, you can sing the song, but you're not her/him.

What I don't understand about the 2009 tour is calling it a "greatest hits" tour, when so many of the hits were songs by Christine. It seems unlikely they will do more than one or two of Chris's songs, which means a lot of the greatest hits will be missing from the "greatest hits" set.

But who cares about that, when songs like "Why" exist in the world, even if we will never see them performed live again?

If I had to pick my favorite FM song, or to say what I think is their best song ever (two different concepts), there's a chance I'd pick "Why" both times. I could listen to that song every day and still love hearing it.
