Thanks for sharing your experience with us!

Christine is 74?! She looks really fit. However she does sound pitchy on certain songs. From a vocal standpoint, is Chris losing some of her power?

I was super slim till I got to about 60....gave up work, and got plump, which I HATE and it's impossible to shift..

I do walk everywhere and eat really healthily but......do like a glass of red wine in the evening...

C'est la vie...

All 3 of them are. 40+ years singing live will do that to anybody. All things considered they're all doing quite well.

How would you rate your overall concert experience? Could you compare it to other concerts you've seen solo band members or FM? Last time I saw FM was on the SYW tour and I've seen Stevie a few times solo since then. Really thought those shows were great. Just trying to get some perspective on how you feel about the BuckVie show in relation to other shows?

I thought it was great fun. It starts slow; as I noted earlier the acoustic opening really starts the show on a slow note... and a lot of people don't know Shut Us Down or Wish You Were Here to be totally blunt. Trouble is recognizable and then of course Never Going Back Again. That's 3 LB songs and 1 Christine and I don't think that's quite fair..... Love Will Show Us How was her single off her first solo album and did well, and Lindsey was on Who's Dreaming This Dream which if they wanted a slower tempo Chris solo song (LWSUH is rather upbeat and bouncy) that would work in that opening section too.......

Once they get through those first 4 songs the show has a nice momentum and rocks!

So I would highly recommend it as a nice way to see the two of them doing stuff you won't see at a FM show. I was lucky the audience in Seattle had really good energy (maybe all the wine!) and I could see where an audience that stays seated and quiet could really kill the buzz.

I haven't gone to a band tour since Chris left and didn't see them yet since she's come back. I'm not such a fan of large arena shows (crowds) as I used to be so for me seeing BuckVie in a smaller venue was perfect. And it was outside which was even better. I like the venues Lindsey plays solo as well. I've seen shows at 3 of his solo tours in the last ten years; I've seen multiple Stevie shows but honestly not since the 90s. Getting older I guess; when I was in my 20s and 30s I was at concerts almost every month.

The band is excellent (BuckVie band) and if you've seen Lindsey solo he's got that same type of energy here (at least in Seattle.... elle indicates maybe he was far more serious earlier in the tour. maybe he and Chris got into the wine at the winery before the show too!!) Plenty of rocking energy after those first few songs. ....

What do other people who've gone to shows think??

Buckingham, McVie Concert - July 19, 2017

20 Jul 2017, 21:02 #1

Terrific sold out 90 minute show at Ste Michelle in Woodinville WA on Wednesday. I've now seen each duo combination of the Fleetwood Mac front persons. In 1987 at the Coliseum: Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie with Billy Burnette and Rick Vito replacing Lindsey Buckingham to tour Tango In The Night. In 2013 at the Tacoma Dome with just Nicks and Buckingham. McVie left FMac for fifteen years before returning in 2014.

The new self titled Buckingham-McVie album contains several songs that were co-written by them, probably more than all their songs for FM. Besides playing some FM hits and deep cuts, they played eight songs from the new album and I liked every one. They're catchy pop rock songs, several of which could have been radio hits back in the 70s and 80s when FM tunes were played on the radio. I'll be getting the album. Most any song that contains Buckingham's guitar and great vocal harmonies by five singers is a-ok with me. Three of the four backing players sang. McVie's voice was a little weak, especially in contrast to Buckingham's, especially when she sang Wish You Were Here following his bellowing of Trouble to start the show. She's 73, he's 67.

I've seen Buckingham several times, but still can't get enough of his master guitar work, including his unique finger stylings, sometimes classical, and tasty electric rock solos. Great tone too, especially on his custom Rick Turner Model One. I suppose you could compare his finger work to Clapton or James Taylor, but much snappier and percussive than theirs. His acoustic picking of a Taylor 814ce was on display from the get-go on Trouble, with just him and McVie on stage for the first four songs. Besides more fingering, his exuberant vocals were there too for the other two of the first four, Never Going Back Again and Shut Us Down. Of the four, McVie just sang Wish You Were Here. I was a little disappointed that neither added backup vocals on those four songs. Buckingham did the talking, mostly about getting together for the new album and the usual, "Nice setting. Glad you came".

McVie left her keyboard stack to sing Everywhere, walked around the stage a little on one song and while playing accordion on Tusk. The guitarist/keyboardist/singer, long time FM, Buckingham, Nicks, etc, sideman, Brett Tuggle, played most of the intricate keyboard parts. Buckingham was his usual highly animated self, exchanging guitar riffs with long time Buckingham and FM side guitarist/singer - Neale Heywood.
Drums - Jimmy Paxson. Bass/singer - Federico Pol.

Setlist:
Trouble - Buckingham solo album
Wish You Were Here - FM
Never Going Back Again - FM
Shut Us Down - Buckingham solo album
Sleeping Around the Corner
Feel About You
In My World
Too Far Gone
Hold Me - FM
Little Lies - FM
Tusk - FM
Love Is Here to Stay
Red Sun
You Make Loving Fun -FM
I'm So Afraid
Go Your Own Way - FM
Everywhere - FM
Lay Down for Free
Game of Pretend
Image

Local singer-writer, Kellee Bradley sang and strummed an acoustic for thirty minutes, starting at 7:15pm. Quite a dropoff from The Wallflowers who opened until the break for the FM show at Dodger Stadium on Sunday. It was part of Classic West with Journey and Earth Wind And Fire. Saturday was the Eagles with Vince Gill and Deacon Frey, The Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan.

We were in row O section B. $99/ea plus fees. The plastic chairs with armrests are way more comfortable than the kiddie chairs at Marymoor. We drank Horse Heaven Savignon Blanc - $24 and Midsummer's White, a blend - $18. Free parking in the south lot. This was the most people I've ever seen at Ste Michelle, with people sitting in areas I've never seen used before.

Default opening act about LB and CM ("Lindsey gives great hugs")

http://us1.campaign-archive2.com/?u=...&id=5a88316a98

Did you know you can listen to me on Spotify? Click on the link above and check it out! All four albums are available to stream!

Hello There!

Wow....it's really all I can say about the experience of opening for Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie and Chateau Ste-Michelle Winery last Wednesday night. Here are a few photos:

Truly a once in a lifetime experience opening for two of my musical heroes! And they were so nice (Lindsey gives great hugs) and was so generous...thanking me for opening for him....seriously...they didn't really have to pay me but it was nice that they did. Shhh...we won't let them know I would have done it for free!

If you are new to my mailing list that probably means you signed up at the show last Wednesday. Welcome! I won't send these missives out often enough to bother you (I hope) but to let you know when I have shows coming up!

In fact, I've got two great, free shows this weekend with my band. Check out the info below. I'll have some free passes to our Emerald Downs gig on August 11 with me this weekend and will be giving some away to be one of the first to ask me about them after the gigs each day and they're yours!

I hope to see you!

xo Kellee

great to hear he also thinks it was sold out. (haven't heard officially that it was).

and interesting to hear that others also think the acoustic opening with mostly Lindsey playing is a little funky. And I agree it was weird they didn't sing on each other's songs during that bit....

I was watching the video in that instagram post to see if you could see me in the crowd in front of Christine, but they never got a shot of the people at the front of the stage. Whew!

Wednesday night's Buck-McVie was such a wonderful experience! I'm more of a lurker, a reader, with my first post on Wednesday.

I was worried about the weather, so I waited until the night before to buy a ticket! I snagged an excellent reserved seat, for $65 including all fees, next to another confirmed FM aficionado who was lovingly clutching signed CD and LP. I got a keychain.

The $10 parking was a fantastic deal. I usually would go for the free parking, but it's almost like there's a "point of no return" when you drive up the Chateau's driveway, and all that was ahead of me was $10 parking, so I relaxed and did it. I was incredibly close to an entrance point: short walk, quick rifling of my bag, a metal-detector, and swoosh I was in. The concession booth was not very busy (I often am deterred by lines), so I checked it all out. Very mellow for such a big-league concert.

Fantastically for me and my FM-addict seatmate, the seat in front of us was vacant!

My seatmate went down to the front as soon as she saw that security was allowing it. I liked what I had in my reserved seat and stayed.

The crowd was appreciative, welcoming. I saw two ladies, when "Hold Me" started up, they looked at each other, clasped hands, and began singing the lines to each other, like little fan girls, but they were easily in the 40s-50s. So cute!

I enjoyed the entire experience, Chateau St. Michelle is just about the best venue I've ever been at, glad Lindsey/Christine played there.

I noticed that nobody on stage said "Seattle" or any locational name: I read on this board that there was a screwup related to Boston, so maybe they are a bit shy about that right now, especially since Woodinville is a half-hour from Seattle.

I didn't have any wine, but a lot of people were indulging.

It was a fabulous night: I'm so glad Lindsey keeps performing with the little machine, and he seems very engaged & in great shape so he may do this into his 70s. Yay for us!

This bit here is too heavily weighted to Lindsey. And he dominates on SATC, so really that's 4 of the first 5 songs are him. The more I ponder this post-show the more it sorta bugs me. SUD has to go. Why is it even in there???? She probably can't do Never Make Me Cry anymore; Never Forget certainly has the right vibe but is still a bit higher in pitch than she seems comfortably able to reach these days. Something off In The Meantime would have been a very cool surprise, but she doesn't seem to give that album the love it deserves.
