I have always liked The Chain with Lindsey and Little Big Town because Kimberly brought back the Christine harmony that had been missing. The FM back up singers never filled that gap. Certain songs just need layers. For instance, Beautiful Child worked wonderfully with Lindsey, Stevie and the singers taking different lines.

But some songs need both layering and the tension created by different vocal tones and that's what Christine's absence stripped from The Chain.

When Lindsey said that his harmony with Stevie was one thing and the harmony with Christine was something different altogether, I wanted him to elaborate. Yeah, it was different all right. Otherworldy.

i love both The Chain and GYOW with LBT - the harmonies, the interplay, the music - it all worked and sounded great (except John's bass line on The Chain). i especially loved that rehearsal of The Chain from the night before when lindsey went to town with his solo and at the end everybody was like "ooh forgot the breathe".

yeah - like flute and oboe together.

the black and white pic posted here does not look like a Les Paul for sure.

The headstock looks more like the one on the SWS cover than the Turner:

And then there's this one:

And this one:

I've tweeted the girl who blogged for the Q&A and she wasn't sure. The neck looks like the Fender Strat as pictured in his collection in Guitar Aficionado and based on what I thought he said, which was he was playing one of the two guitars he used when he first joined FM. I thought it sounded more Gibson-ish but I think the recording quality threw the tone off.

My bet is the one in the last photo. The detail looks identical.

Hmmm I thought it sounded like the model 1. I was listening on a really crappy internal pc speaker. The BW Photo is definitely of the strat though. I'll listen again tonight and pay better attention.

Default guitar confirmation from USC

"The guitar he played was a beat-up old Fender Stratocaster. The guitar that he’s mostly known for is a custom guitar by Rick Turner."

thanks for getting the info @mirisaunt
