D.W. Suite played at a dance rehersal
I'm guessing the dance instructor is a fan of Lindsey Buckingham?
Whenever I hear the beginning of Soul Drifter, I think of ice skating. Last edited by Bm7th; 11-07-2011 at 07:38 PM.. Reason: wrong message |

From an article on songs inspired by The Beach Boys
Paste Magazine, by Geoffrey Himes, May 12, 2012 http://www.pastemagazine.com/article...each-boys.html The influence The Beach Boys had on popular music is undeniable. Here are seven tracks directly influenced by Brian Wilson and company. 1. Lindsey Buckingham: “The D.W. Suite” (from Go Insane, 1984) There may be no bigger Brian Wilson fan among rock stars than Buckingham, who convinced Fleetwood Mac to cover the Beach Boys’ “The Farmer’s Daughter” for the 1980 Live album and who co-wrote “He Couldn’t Get His Poor Old Body To Move” with Brian as the B-side of the latter’s 1988 solo single, “Love and Mercy.” Buckingham’s 1992 Out of the Cradle, may well be the best Beach Boys’ album of the ‘90s. But Buckingham’s most direct tribute is this suite, named after Dennis Wilson and structured like the complex song suites Brian created for Smile. |

The Santa Cruz Patch also mentioned Brian Wilson in explaining "Why" you should go to LB's concert. Yes, LB is witty. Thanks for noticing:
http://santacruz.patch.com/articles/...and-pink-floyd FRIDAY May 11 WHO: LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM WHERE: Rio Theatre, 1205 Soquel Ave. WHEN: 8 p.m. HOW MUCH: $47. Buy tix here. WHY: He's the Brian Wilson of Fleetwood Mac, the guy who pushed the cocaine-fueled band's edges in the 1970s and has been true to experimenting musically ever since. He's one of the cagiest, wittiest, most willing to take chances musicians in pop and rock today. |

[I never watched Northern Exposure, but I read this description of the use of an LB song in an episode and it made me want to see it.]
http://home.comcast.net/~mcnotes/MooseMusic.html Some of Brand's favorite juxtapositions came in the episode "Spring Break," in which everyone went a little nuts during the first thaw, and Cicely experienced a crime spree. At one point, Chris explained to Ed why he stole – people have to be reminded, he said, that there is wildness out there, and sometimes you have to do something wrong to know you're alive. It could have been a very trashy or a very dumb scene. But someone was inspired to lay in the aria that dominated the movie Diva (from the obscure Italian opera La Wally, by Catalani, performed by Wilhelmenia Wiggins Fernandez). "When you heard that music playing while Chris talks about petty thievery," recalls Brand, "the scene became extremely elegant and moving." In the show's last sequence, all the men in town stripped off their thermals for the annual nude run through the snowscapes of Cicely. Bruestle suggested a fairly obscure tune by Lindsey Buckingham, "D.W. Suite," about Dennis Wilson's going crazy. It created a lovely moment. |

Very cool dance. I used to be very big into dance and have seen a number of FM songs used and I actually ran out and bought Stevie's TISL because my dance teacher played it all the time. I picked up so many of my musical tastes and all of my most favorite singers from dance classes. Dance teachers tend to have good taste.
But for sure this is the first time I've ever seen any solo Lindsey done. Nice. |
