Default new member asks: has CM appeared in public lately?

I just joined. My first post. Does anyone know when CM last appeared in public? I'd hate to think she's become a total recluse. The last appearance I know of is when she picked up the award for FM a few years ago. In interviews she said she tries to get up to London once a week for shopping, and also frequents antique shops for glass objects. Does she still do that?

Welcome to the Ledge! I really am unsure about her appearances. Her only promotions for In the Meantime were essentially radio interviews. She attended one of the FM London shows but declined to appear on stage. I wish she would tour with them again, but I doubt that will ever happen. She seems to be enjoying retirement, though, so I am glad she is happy.

She was also on the VH1 Show "Hanging With" (I think)...to promote ITM in 2004...she talked about the album and they showed FM videos...I loved it!!! She looked so cute.

Okay, Brandon. Bring forth the clips! (If you have any)
I didn't even know about that. Not that I would've been able to see it, since I don't have VH1...

So did she travel to the United States to do that press for ITM? I heard her do some radio shows that year. I thought she was just phoning in from England.

Yea...but remember she did say in one of the interviews that she was going to fly into NYC to do some more press...

That VH1 Classic show is the last time we've seen her. She looked and sounded fantastic! It ran in segments, about 20 -25 minutes total. I hope that's not the last time we'll ever see her again.

She phoned in a few of the early interviews from her home. She did spend about a week or so in New York City. That VH1 Classic show & the World Cafe radio interview were obviously done at that time.

Welcome to the Ledge. I don't get the impression that she's exactly a recluse. I think she's just living a very normal, but quiet life. Someone posted a while back on the message board on her website that a friend had seen her doing her grocery shopping in a local store in Kent. It sounds like she's happily retired.

Yeah, people use that word "recluse" too much when talking about Christine. She probably isn't any more a recluse than I am, or Mary Anne is, or profjohn is.

Very normal is the key here. She's just no longer a rock star. That doesn't mean recluse; it just means normal. It's all about context. A long time ago, Lindsey talked about the context of rock star behavior being normal for rock stars but abnormal for bank employees. So with Christine: out of the context of being a rock star touring the world & being in all the rock rags, Chris is just living a normal (i.e., normal for non-rock-star) life. She's just out of the dog & pony show. She's not a clown in a Fellini movie any more. She's a member of the audience.

Yes, I picture her kicking around in the yard in her garden boots, maybe having a swing, and then in the evening, she might go out for a drive with some friends.
Ahhh, a simple, sweet life: La Dolce Vita!

I have the VH1 on VHS, courtesy of the greatest Ledgie of them all.
I have NO idea how people convert that stuff to DVD, or MPEG, though.

I get the impression that she lives a very normal life away from the circus of Fleetwood Mac.

I think she enjoys the simple pleasures in life: cooking, gardening, reading and spending time with her family.

Hopefully she's still writing music and you never know we might get to hear a few more Christine songs in the future.

As long as she's happy and healthy that's the main thing

Gail
