Tonight, on the way home from the Cat Stevens / Yusuf concert (which was very good, but ironically not as enjoyable as Darren Coggan's "Peace Train: The Cat Stevens Story" of two months ago, where Darren very accurately covered Cat's songs and talked about Cat's life), I heard the song I haven't been able to identify for about two years - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wcKZoFRpZCI. Now my life is complete... except for that bit about understanding the universe as much as humanly possible...

Well, my house inspection went really well, all things considered. Only a few small things to fix before the inspector comes back tomorrow, and then we can (hopefully) move in.
I look forward to this, because I am tired of hanging out of windows as I scrape 50 year old paint off of the sashes outside and reapply new paint with naught but my one foot hooked around the ledge to support me. Actually, I don't mind that part so much. The part I mind is where Boy What Carries Things bursts into the room of wherever I am doing this and shouts, "OMG ANNIE WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU ARE GOING TO FALL AND BREAK YOUR ASS IN HALF AND DIE AND WHAT WILL I TELL YOUR CHILDREN WON'T SOMEONE PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN OMG." Look, if you're worried about me falling, don't pop 'round corners unexpectedly and scream. I'm just sayin.'

I Think I See the Light Offhand, the only difference I can see is that he sang "Peace Train" last in the Encore. As I said, it wasn't as enjoyable as Darren's performance. The Cat had a habit of singing half of a song before drifting into another one, usually seamlessly... I guess that's fair enough if he feels bored singing songs in much the same way as always, but it did feel a bit disappointing - seeing as he hasn't toured in such a long time, it's not as if we've heard him doing the same routine lately! He may also have done that because he was telling the story of Stormy and Moonshadow for about half of the concert, which he later revealed was a musical he was working on... that kinda just made the concert feel like a bit of an advertisement for what he really wants us to see... His performances were better later in the night ("Tuesday's Dead" was most enjoyable! ), but by that time I was feeling pretty tired/headachey from the late night I'd had (damn World Cup and its watchability! ), and starting to think about my upcoming exam, so I wasn't entirely with it. Also, so far as audience interaction goes, I personally found him a bit mixed: "Melbourne is just... plus so many things..." Anyone care to decipher that? This was better though, after someone cheered unnecessarily loudly from the back-right of the venue: "Gee, you're not shy, are you? I'll dedicate this next song to you." Care to guess which song he played? So, all in all, enjoyable, but underwhelming.

Carrie,
Is it true that you don't even like the Mac? And that you're only here to read my posts? |

No "If You Want to Sing Out"? Does he have a distaste for this song that I'm not aware of?
Seems odd that that he'd perform a rather comprehensive setlist and leave that one out. |

Hmm... that would've been nice to hear. The most notable absences for me were "Into White" and "Longer Boats". I guess, considering the amount of material from Roadsinger, there were always going to be quite a few songs left out that I would've liked to have heard.
