Default Just Skimmed Through STORMS

About 2 hours ago, Carol Ann Harris' book showed up on my doorstep. I think that it's probably a belated birthday present from my sister. For anyone who is interested, here's what I've learned so far, mind you, I have just skimmed through the book.

According to Carol Ann:
Lindsey was not too upset over his break up with Stevie
Carol Ann miscarried Lindsey's child
Lindsey twice asked Carol to marry him
Lindsey's music was always first in his life

I haven't read anything earth shattering, and I don't think that she portrays Lindsey as an abusive monster. There aren't a lot of pictures. They are all black and whites, and aren't the best quality, so I wouldn't buy this book for the pictures, if anyone was thinking about that. If anyone is interested, I can post a more complete review after I've read the book.

Yes, because their break-up was so amicable.

It makes one wonder, why there was such a hubbub about it being published. Rumor was that it was to have been published 10 years ago but was blocked.

It sounds pretty tame. Did anyone read that Sandra Haliburton book on Stevie? Pretty awful (IMO) I hope that this one is better. But like a dummy I pre-ordered it from Amazon to see the photos (I am such a guppie) and now I read that the photos aren't the best quality.

Damn you Carol Ann. Couldn't you have afforded a decent camera instead of an instamatic??? or a Polaroid Swinger?

Lindsey wasn't that upset about his breakup with STevie?? Is that why he STILL claims to not have closure? Those Tusk songs sound sort of bitter to me...........

Something doesn't add up Miss Carol Ann.

Mine shipped out on the 26th. I was coerced into buying this trash.

I don't take it so black and white. Yeah, Lindsey was likely upset -- but not over his break up with Stevie; they were both probably ready to move on at that point...their relationship was doomed. What he was mostly upset about was the fact that he couldn't get away from her (the spectar) -- he still had to work with her.

Think about that: how would you feel if you wanted to/had to remove yourself and breakaway from someone, yet the circumstances of your professional relationship together made that impossible? Wouldn't you feel a little frustrated...or "upset"?

Agreed. It almost seems like an impossible task. I would never ever want to work with an ex!!!! eek!

I got my copy yesterday and am up to the 5th chapter. She paints herself as a young kid from the mid-west who goes to "hollywood" to see the world. One interesting thing from the book is that she got to listen to Rumours before it came out. Lindsey wanted her opinion. A fresh perspective. He thought Gold Dust Woman needed something and got a plate of glass that they took out into the parking lot where Mick smashed it. They recorded it and that was the beginning of the song. I'd heard about the glass but I've never really heard it in the song. I'll have to really listen next time. I think she has written a good tell-all so far. No one is portrayed unfairly but I don't think she showed Stevie in a good light. She claims the first conversation she had with Stevie was when Stevie came over to her and said they shared the same birthday and she asked if Carol liked to wear black. When Carol said yes, she thinks all blonds look good in black, Stevie said that must be why Lindsey is with you, your like me. That's cold!!!

Hello All-- After having finished "Storms" by Carol Ann Harris, I think Tango's post of 06-30-07 best describes my feelings about FM fans buying the book. I found it a fascinating read, and suggest that all fans of the band give it a look. Best always, Madelow. p.s. I agree that the photos are universally bad.

I think if the pulisher had sprung for some glossy paper and decent art design those pictures would have been much clearer.

I didn't even realize there was a date set for release. Did you receive an advance copy?

1 - I find it interesting that her book is named after a Stevie song

2 - from the overview above, it seems like she's saying "Stevie blah blah blah, he loved me more. see? he asked me to marry him twice. we were really serious. I was even preggers with his child. see? I matter."

Well, I think it will be more than 7 copies. Perhaps members of the band will buy it (and deny buying it), former roadies, associates, etc. Whether one wants to believe what is written in this book, unlike the Sandra book, this one was written by someone who actually knew the band, lived with them and traveled with them. She may have some axes to grind, but at least it's her own first hand account. I have heard the pictures in Carol Ann's book are of poor quality, but fans won't buy it solely for the pictures.
