Stevie: "Hello?" Caller: "Hi, Stevie? Stevie Nicks?" Stevie: "Yes, who's this?" Caller: "This is Copernicus. You aren't the center of the Universe" *click*

Yes. I also recall this story. I was waiting for someone else to remember, because I immediately thought about that when Stevie said to RS that their paths never crossed. Maybe that encounter with Linda was fleeting and we know Stevie has met so many celebrities, that, and her memory lapses.

When you mention Louise Goffin, that just reminds me of Waddy and all the other people that Linda and Stevie have in common musically. Yes, it would be strange if they didn't run into each other, especially in the eighties.

Very happy to have become a Ledgie! I recently stumbled across this account of Stevie's and Linda's relationship from the Waddy Q&A:
http://www.fleetwoodmac.net/fwm/inde...166&Itemid=186 blackca:t Are Linda and Stevie friends? Waddy: They're not "not friends." I don't know that they really know each other really. blackcap: You mean all musicians don't know each other? (laughing) Those two ladies just have so many similarities. Waddy: I would love to get my two Arizona girls together. blackcap: Absolutely! Hey! Waddy: I've got one in Phoenix and one in Tucson. I don't know that they've ever really come together. blackcap: I know that they have met because they were at a show together. Waddy: What show was that? blackcap: I read this in a magazine article a while ago . . . It was at a show for Louise Goffin. Stevie and Linda were sitting next to each other, both being blown away by Louise's voice, and Stevie kind of leaned over to Linda and said something like, "Well, do you think we can still get a job singing back up for Joe Cocker?" (By the way, Louise has a new album out called Sometimes A Circle, and it's amazing!) Waddy: (laughing) blackcap: It is pretty funny. Waddy: Yeah. She has been out-that's right, it was the orchestral thing, and she's got the glass whistles and stuff. She likes that stuff. She's amazing, and a very, very unique person. She's very funny. Very unique. There's no one like Linda. blackcap: Both Linda and Stevie-they both seem like they have a pretty good sense of humor. They should be together some day. Waddy: Oh yes. They would love each other. It's like when Dolly (Parton) met us all. We were just in love. We were just in stitches, and in love. Dolly just has this incredible energy. (Dolly has a new album out called "Halos & Hornes") |

OMG thank you for posting that!!!! The filmed angle was fantastic. It made me feel like I was standing on the side of the stage. All those ladies were fantastic and much loved by this audience but when Stevie was announced, and during her performance they danced and erupted with delight.

I know Linda wasn't to impressed about being inducted, but I haven't read any interviews from her on what her thoughts or comments were about this beautiful tribute to her, have you? Just curious as to what her reaction was. |

I haven't read anything since her in initial comments. But these performances from this angle were so exciting that I'm about to watch it again. I was wondering if anyone would agree that I think Stevie might not have been there for the rehearsals because Glen Frey had to direct her to the proper microphone or do you think it was just a case of nervousness?

Yes, I don't think there's any way that Stevie missed the rehearsal.

wow. I hadn't seen the entire tribute. They were all outstanding performances...very well suited to the performers. Blue Bayou was probably my favorite (sorry Stevie).

[Paul Stanley's reaction to Stevie's comment]
[CS Monitor 5/27/14] http://www.csmonitor.com/Books/chapt...iography-video On Steve Nicks of Fleetwood Mac saying Kiss should have performed at the induction: "I saw Stevie backstage, I love Stevie. Obviously, one can’t know the inner workings of one band just because you’re in another. All I found myself saying when I was sitting with Gene [Simmons], I leaned over and said, ‘Thank God we didn’t play.’" |
