Still a great song. I wish she performed it more in concert.

Agreed. Probably in my top 5 of Stevie's solo work. It never should have left her live set. I can actually see it as a show opener. My memories of this song always go back to when it was released prior to the album and I would hear it every night on the radio on my way home from work. It would thrill me to no end! And it still does...

The Video also got some great rotation. Every time the video would come on my then 2 year old daughters would grab their kiddy microphones and mimic Stevie. Priceless!

I was a junior in high school when "Rooms On Fire" was released. I still remember the excitement of our local Top 40 station debuting it. The same night they also added it to their "Battle of the New Sounds" contest. They'd play two songs at 9 or 10 pm, then listeners would call in over the course of the next hour and vote on the best one. "Rooms" won for two weeks straight.

I remember hearing it for the first time about 1/3 of the way in on the car radio 25 years ago..I still think it is one of her best singles and it should have gone top ten .Still it is the last single by anyone in Fleetwood Mac to make a significant dent on the pop singles charts on either side of the pond.

Yes! Another ROF fan... one of my fav versions is on the Welcome to My World boot taped at HOB. Love the vid so much I bought a red satin robe just like the one Stevie wears. Trashy.com used to sell them, but I haven't seen them on there the last few times I checked. I shall likely never part with it!

I love this song and TOSOTM album.

ROF had great video airtime on MTV/VH1 before the channels got trashed with reality shows also ROF had great radio airplay here in CT.

On her tour I've seen the Mansfield MA Greatwoods show with a friend and the cursing show at Bristol CT Lake Compounce show.

Maybe "Rooms" could come back live with FM this year? John McVie's style of bass sounds like it would fit right in on this one? Perhaps replace having "Stand Back" in a FM live set??

By "more" do you mean "ever"? Is '99 still the last time it was performed?

"RoF" is still my favorite song, and a real missed opportunity live. She loves to cater to the casual fans, but refuses to play it, or "TTM" for that matter, when those were both radio hits...?

Shhhhhhhhh! Talk To Me is just plain awful. Don't bring it up in case she's just forgotten about it and any mention of it in the universe might somehow reach her and remind her of it. It's kind of a Voldemort type thing.

But I agree, RoF is crying out for setlist inclusion (as is I Can't Wait, IMO).

Remember the one Stevie Nicks hit from the '80s that WASN'T overplayed?

By Kevin Wuench Tuesday, June 3, 2014 10:00am

With mystique and her twirling dances in long dresses, Stevie Nicks set the charts on fire in the ‘80s with hit after hit. In total, Nicks hit the Top 40 in the 80's twenty times with collaborations like Stop Draggin' My Heart Around with Tom Petty, nine times with Fleetwood Mac and eight times as a solo artist, including forgotten hits like Rooms On Fire.

In 1989, Nicks released her "The Other Side of the Mirror" album that was concept album based on "Alice in Wonderland". The lead single, Rooms On Fire hit No. 16 on the singles chart and was inspired by Nicks acceptance of never having a traditional family life of a husband and kids when she visited a Dutch castle and had a short affair with producer Rupert Hine.

In the video, Nicks is shown holding a baby who turns out to be her goddaughter named Kelly. Stevie and Kelly reportedly are more like mother-daughter as the two lived together for years and Kelly shows up 22 years later in Nick's 2011 video for "Secret Love" and plays the part of a young Stevie Nicks.

Rooms is a great song, one of her best and I remember back in the day some stations that would never play a Stevie song, were playing Rooms on Fire and commenting how solid the tune was. Unfortunately, same can't be said for most of the Other Side of the Mirror album, sorry, although I did really like Ooh My Love and Doing the Best I Can.
