Will we get that new album in 2016?

So according to the latest interview with Christine, Fleetwood Mac will indeed be recording during some of their down time this summer, and will in fact release this new material mid next year. What does everyone think of this timeline? Will it actually happen?

I'm inclined to say no. Until I we get official confirmation from Stevie, I'm treating all of this talk from Mick, Lindsey, and Christine as a Christmas wish list.

I don't think they will release it in 2016, but if they TRY to do that and miss the mark a bit, but have it out in 2017 for sure, then I guess I can live with that. I just want them to be working on it. Once they start doing that, I know the process won't go smoothly, but I want them to have a goal. If the goal is 2016, that's great.

Christine's wording is vague and undecided..."I guess we will work on it before Australia" is not the same as "We have booked studio time and will be working on songs before Australia"...It does not sound like they have any concrete plans...It's possible it could be out the very end of 2016...That would give people time to learn the songs before a spring 2017 "Farewell tour" kicks off...

I voted no, although I hope and pray they will prove me wrong.

I'm thinking it's more likely someone will convince them to wait until 2017 so they will not only have a new album to tour behind, but commemorate "Rumours" 40th Anniversary as well. It will be a ticket sale "booster" inevitably caused by higher ticket prices even more outrageous than this current tour.

I gotta say I agree with all of this. And I'm fine with that. I'm resigned to the fact that we will just have to accept whatever scraps get tossed the fans way from now on.

Would be great to have the album in 2016 but I believe if released it will be in 2017.

The earliest, by Christine's timeline of being done by February, would be August, 2016. I think a September-October release, if not November, is more realistic.

For a very long time I said summer of 2016. A lot of people thought that was crazy, and said 2015. I'm starting to not be very confident of a 2016 release. Leaning towards 2017 or not at all.
