The Gestation of Creative Genius
Admittedly, I am a fan of Malcolm Gladwell. He has an excellent series of podcasts from this past summer (the series is called Revisionist History). After listening to his podcast on Halleluah, the Leonard Cohen song, it reminded of comments people make about LB. During the Behind The Music LB episode, even his brother Jeff Buckingham comments that sometimes LB has a hard time letting a song go (considering it "finished"). LB is like Cezanne. I was again reminded of this as I watched episode 2 of Soundbreaking (the PBS series) - both LB and Brian Wilson were criticized for working hours to get a particular sound. A link to the Gladwell podcast is below (if it doesn't work, it is available on iTunes):
