That alone tells me enough. Mick and Stevie are good friends, they still are. I bet Stevie saw something in Mick back then that drew her to him, probably more on an emotional level than anything else, but it was born out of friendship. I don't think it was anything majorly deep that they shared, they carried on being friends afterwards also. Heck, Mick ran right to her best friend, I don't think they were that closely and deeply connected. I have a friend that I have at one point been involved with, and while that was okay for a while, especially considering we both had a shoulder to lean on when we needed it, we split amicably and are even better friends now. There's not an inkling of any of us wanting to be together now, we're perfectly happy with the way things are. I always think that way about Stevie and Mick also. There was something there for a short time, it withered, and they came out even better friends. As for Stevie and Lindsey...totally different story.

Actually, they're probably the most alike members of the band.
She said he smells good. I frikkin' love it when a man smells good.

I actually think Mick was kind of attracive in his younger days.

Anyway- it's never really surprised me- I love David's thoughts here:

Sometimes when you're on that level of understanding with another person & the friendship breaks up, it can be even more painful than if it's just some one-night stand who doesn't really understand you.

Stevie thought Mick would take care of her, & sometimes he did & sometimes he did not. But he, too, has always been a storm. Mick has a lot of the same problems that Stevie does, but while everyone sympathizes with Stevie, almost no one sympathizes with Mick. Everybody just calls him names.

Call me a freak...maybe the cheese stands alone here .....

but at least someone else here thinks so LOL.....I think Mick has gotten sexier since the 70's....I definetly see the attraction, at least on a mental and spiritual level...though I do think he is a sexy guy..even though I don't like men that skinny!!! But I ALSO definetly think there is still something there and will always be, as it is with Lindsey....she and Mick go places together and it's great to see... Though I do think there is still sexual tension there

A married man, father of two with a known roving eye AND serious drug problems?
A sober woman might have run a mile. But Stevie wasn't a sober woman. She was just as messed up with drugs and she was lonely and unhappy.

The timeline for the Mick/Stevie hook-up is November 1977 until late autumn 1978 (by Halloween time Mick was with Sara, Stevie's friend because he took her to Lindsey's party as his date).

So in 1977 since Stevie was still on/off with Lindsey and on/off with Don Henley she must have had two major breakups close together and in this condition she found Mick.
I expect he was kind and they did develop feelings for each other but considering it ended when Mick, within that time frame of less than a year, fell for Stevie's friend Sara, the feelings on his part can't have been that deep.

Can't say any of the above amounts to a 'great love affair' in my books but, whatever.

I agree with other posters that their easy friendship now (I don't see any sexual tension between them at all) suggests the affair was a thing of its time and has stayed there.

Personally, I think Stevie has affairs with all her producers (except maybe Sheryl Crow) and anybody that twirls her skirt in the studio. The thing that is so wrong with Mick and Stevie being together is the "betrayal", so to speak, against Lindsey and how they could do such a thing and not expect all hell to break loose.

I don't think that is really an issue for stevie. i mean, after all, she did end up marrying HER best friends husband. I love the girl and all, but.....things that make you go "hmmmmm..."

Let's not get too deep. It was drugs, alcohol and sex. I think if she had to do it all over again, maybe one of them would think twice??

I think that hurt a lot of people and it wasn't right.

She will be very nice about it and say it was lovely and all, but really...it wasn't right. It crossed a line.

Mick Fleetwood was the Greatest Love Of All for Stevie, dwarfing all others.

She never got over those blue eyes. . . .

Somewhere out in the back of her mind. . . .

Well as well as you knew her/In the never-forgotten words of another one/Of your friends!

Maybe for her, making more of it justifies what they did? And by doing that, she's convivced herself it was bigger than it was. I have no idea- and certainly never will.
