Default Street Angel interview (May 1994)

I thought I heard just about every interview but I never heard this one before. I LOVE this interview. Street Angel just released and there is a love for it. 6 months later she would be bitter and bashing it. Several things here I got a kick out of. Remember she is fresh from leaving Fleetwood Mac in 1994.

Stevie claims the Mac was always jealous of her solo career and never complimented her on any of her solo records which is the reason she left.

I love Street Angel and several things that I like about it get brought out. Its guitar based back to Bella Donna/Buck Nicks roots. All the songs sound live.

She compares TOSOTM and Street Angel songs are not happy but the airy fairy keyboards on TOSOTM and the guitar based Street Angel was not planned...it just happened that way.

Talks why she is not political and about the inaugural in 1993.

Talks how when Rumours was released the band was so happy how well it was selling in the first 6 weeks and their early tour they put 6 Rumours songs into the set. The band felt the audience would love it since they were buying it. However the audience hated it so much since they were new songs they had to revamp the set and only put a few Rumours songs in the set.

Talks about Sara and it was her favorite song to write

She is drug free and fresh from rehab again. She sounds really good. I thought it was funny because she says the word ....sh*t

Talks about how much she loves America but its funny when she claims she came from "nothing."

I recently discovered this too and enjoyed it. I think initially maybe she knew that to promote it she needed to show it some love. A few months later after it tanked she was a little more frank.

Thanks for sharing. I used to collect as many interviews as I could find, but I haven't heard this one. I like the SA album and I saw two shows on the tour and they are some of my favorites of hers. This period is one of the last for me where she is still humble and her voice soft and sweet. Some of the modesty may come from her weight issues at the time. After 2000, she was always complaining about something and she comes across very ignorant, which is interesting considering her music from that era is very borderline.

Yes I agree. Her voice is really good in this era and her outlook completely changed several months later. The album tanked, the single did not chart, and her tour was not extended as planned. She started playing theaters and fairs again and people attacked her weight. It was nice to hear her fresh from rehab and talking in positive terms and how she makes music.
OMG her On The Record Street Angel interview with Mary Turner later that year had her lashing out at just about everything.
