Question LB on Dave Mason in GP

I haven't seen the new GP LB article but I saw someone posted this snippet from it at www.dave-mason.com

GP: Who was your main lead guitar influence?

Lindsey Buckingham: I can't say it was any one person. I used to love Led Zeppelin, but I never sat around trying to learn Jimmy Page licks. In terms of developing a sense of melody, I was helped along by Dave Mason's ALONE TOGETHER -- a wonderful album with a very pretty kind of lead guitar style.

Was anyone else surprised (but happy) to find this?

John

I was actually hoping for a reference to Dave Mason as a Fleetwood Mac member... But then again there's only few of us who consider all the members of the band (even the Time incarnation), as "Fleetwood Mac members", if you know what I mean. Yes, interesting reference.

Dave Mason was a member of Fleetwood Mac??
The band hasn't recorded an album in 15 years, so that can't be so!
And before Lindsey & Stevie came along, there was only Peter Green.

I think someone has his facts wrong!

I'm staring at the CD of Time ( I also have it on cassette), and Dave Mason is sure as heck listed as a member - he basically replaced Rick Vito in that lineup (yeah, like Bekka Bramlett "replaced" Stevie). That was 1995 - less than 8 years ago!

Now, if you don't consider that a Fleetwood Mac album, I will understand, but tell that to Mick, John, Christine (and Billy Burnette, who must also qualify at this point as an FM member, having been a guitarist for 8 years in the group) even though he and Bob Welch were not included in the Hall of Fame thing.

Oh you're right, sorry. I'll go and take those CDs under the "Fleetwood Mac" name out of my CD collection, since Mick (probably following a suggestion from The Knight ) and company said that they never existed.

By the way, LawyerMac, I'm in 100% agreement with you: Fleetwood Mac's post-Rumours memebers are TRUE members of the band. The thing is that most of the press these days, and strangely enough the official site is kind of "forgetting" that these records existed, calling Say You Will the first studio album from Fleetwood Mac in 15 years, and omitting (or is it re-writing?) history in a painful way, over and over again. Since the issue was discussed here awhile ago, we were just playing around with the idea.

Now, I'll REALLY believe that article if Lindsey comes out this tour and kicks into "Only You Know & I Know" or "World In Changes".

Seems like "We Just Disagree" might be more appropriate.

Or maybe the "Forty Thousand Headmen" that seem to working the official site? But there, I'm dating myself as an older fan. (since `72!)

P.P.S. - I really like Hollywood (Some Other Kind of Town). I guess that would have been a solo recording under the theory that no FM albums were made since 1987 - same for Save Me and Behind The Mask, Skies the Limit, Love Shines, Heart of Stone, As Long As You Follow - the great lost Christine solo album we've all been waiting for (hohoho).

I'm not quite sure if your message was meant in response to mine, but in case it was, I wanted to clarify that I was just being ornery.

*We* all know Dave Mason was a member of Fleetwood Mac, but it often seems like the record company and certain members of Fleetwood Mac, don't know it... or have conveniently forgotten it.

Oh, I got that.

I myself am jaded, ornery, sarcastic - hey what did you expect - I'm a lawyer, for crying out loud!

I'll dispense with any further disclaimer in order to be concise, brief, short-winded, laconic and so on.

But seriously. Anyone seen any real songs on Kazaa yet?

I promise to buy the album. As a performer myself (keyboards) in a house band, I want the artists to get their due$.

Angry Kazaa!!!

Hi Lawyer Man!
We have mixed feelings about the new Album!
Kazaa is no help! Very complicated for me to use!
US News & World Report wrote against using Kazaa!

And the latter seems to have started to fade out of history aswell. (re: that Billboard article).
