Musically, absolutely not. No similarity at all. She's also looking better ;-) But she needeed the same eternity to finally release an album. Don't know if she is still active or has retired...?

I've actually always imagined that Lindsey was probably an admirer of Kate's. There is a lot to admire.

I do see some similarities. Not in the end-resulting signature sound of each necessarily, but in the way they use instruments, and the kinds of off-center sounds they favor, they way they layer those sounds. I think they both went through a Fairlight fascination period, which probably speaks to a similar mindset about their approach to creating tracks. They both go in for some interesting percussion and rhythms. They have very different voices from each other, but they both use their voices as instruments in some similar ways - to be part of rhythm and atmosphere - besides just singing the words. There is an awful lot of quirky personality that comes through Kate's songs. I guess I think they're both "colorists" in the way that Lindsey tends to use that term.

I really like Kate.

Les you are so right!

I was listening to Hounds of Love then Go Insane and I just hear so many similar quirks that I just have to imagine he's an admirer of hers or her of him. They should be introduced, I think they have similar ideas musically, and then Stevie and her could write together.

I just really like her so much and each day I hear something new or just grow to appreciate her that much more.

I have Red Shoes, Sensual World and Hounds of Love, and today I just got The Kick Inside and The Dreaming. I don't think I want Never Forever but I am interested in Lionheart ( correct title)

I am also trying to get the Whole Story cd AND vhs from ebay. The VHS is over 40 on AMAZON. I really love her videos ( I have Sensual World videos)

And Lindseys Slow Dancing VIDEO, thats like her too, he's a year before so I don't know...they just seem like kindred spirits...like they'd get along SO well and she loves great guitarists ( had Dave Gilmour, Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton AND Prince all play with her) so she'd appreciate his lack of commerciality and his guitar skills...

What a dream. I just wanted to see if anyone could see any similarity.

Hi Janet,

I've only ever seen a portion of one of her videos. I don't know how I've managed to miss out on them for so long, but anyway...I can see what you're saying. The video I did see would fit right in with Slow Dancing.

Kate's Whole Story is never far from my CD player. LOVE it! I actually got into Kate because someone who knew that I liked Lindsey suggested that I might like Kate too. Kindred spirits indeed!

Hmmm kind of, with all the odd little sound effects and quirkiness, I guess you're right

Kate is still active - she's working on her new album and it is currently scheduled for release in September 2003.

Well she's on the cover of Mojo, so the machine may be working again which means maybe something new~

I haven't really seen anything from Kate since 1993. I mean, she must look alot different and Im dying to know...it's weird LOL.

Like I got into Stevie when she was current, so I knew what she looked like.

And ABBA, the girls, it was a little surprising to see what Agnetha looked like, but Frida put out Djupa Andetag and those marvelous videos so no shock there.

Its just people change ALOT so Im wondering...I also really want to hear this album...

I want her and Lindsey to do something together...ahhhhhhhhhhh one could dream.

For everyone who doesn't hear musical similarity between buck and bush: compare "Running up that hill" with "Big Love". (original)

I can't think of a more clear example.

And: does anyone know for sure if this rumour was right:

In the early eighties a few (rich) musicians were flirting with fairlight equipment and actually using the same gear from eachother: lindsey, kate bush and peter gabriel.
