Default Secret Garden Talk

This is an excerpt from a review of Day 3, Day 3 @ Abbots Ripton, Huntingdon, 25 July 2009 by Laura Poliakoff

http://festivals.musicomh.com/secret...009-3_0709.htm

Beckoned inside the Valley Of The Antics stage by a gangly, long-armed MC called Elian, an unsuspecting crowd were introduced to live band the Gentle Mystics, who played an insanely eclectic mix of dub, folk, hip hop and gypsy circus music ('gyp-hop'). Punters who stumbled upon this gem of a band should count themselves lucky. Not so lucky were those who went to catch erstwhile Fleetwood Mac guitarist Peter Green at the sodden Main Stage. While it was heartening to see one of the best guitarists of his generation in such an intimate festival, Green's well-documented problems with mental illness have left him non-communicative and it was difficult to engage with his set, even with a performance of Mac's Albatross thrown in.

Thanks for the pictures Krzysztof! And michelej1 for the review.

I think it is great that PG & Friends have the courage to play more festivals! There are no clips on Youtube as far as I can see. Not yet - if at all.

Too bad that these people get the names mixed up. Not very professional.

And: What a Lovely name for a festival!

Yes, I know Wouter. Those Paradiso clips are dear to my heart because I was there! Strange place. A former church turned concert venue.
What I meant was that there was no clips from The Secret Garden Party Festival.(Thank You anyway )

I also think that the group of "friends" at The Secret Garden Paty included yet another member of The Muscle Shoals. Mike Dodd and Andrew Flude were both members of this London-based 80's group:

It would be nice to have more information on this concert. Anyone out there attended? Mario - any information?

Excerpt from the Music-Zine, by Warren Woodcraft September 11, 2009

http://www.music-zine.com/reviews/?id=680

Sunday:

Our next act many would describe as one of the great living guitarists, the legend Peter Green. Having played with the greats, and fronted Fleetwood Mac for many years, Green is rarely seen on stage since being diagnosed with schizophrenia in the 70's. An avid fan at the front assured me it was his first show for 12 years, and it maybe showed in his laboured performance. With his rhythm guitarist taking care of the banter, and another turning the pages on his song book, the blues man managed only to play his guitar and mutter that he thought his monitor was switched off. His condition aside, the Main Stage bowl was filled with nostalgia hunters who I am sure were left fulfilled by his continuing guitar abilities and inimitable style.
