dB, when are you & I going to play in a band together? If we played only fleetwood mac music (which is basically all I know how to play), what would we play? What would our set list be?

It's a good thing I wasn't in the band, or I would have demanded that he be fired. Why not? I understand that they were under a lot of stress and that he was especially drunk that night, but hey, they didn't let Danny Kirwan get away with that excuse. Lindsey was being, putting it bluntly, a spoiled brat. Hell, they gave him all kinds of freedom on "Tusk," and then he pulls this crap. I would have been on the phone that night to about any guitarist worth a damn who'd return my call!

But didn't they let Danny get away with similar antics for awhile before they let him go? Still, they did actually let him go.

Steve, that's SO funny. Two minutes after posting, I realized I'd forgotten GYOW(and I even play that song out every weekend!), but I let the list lie, to see who called me on it!

PS- we also do Don't Stop, and get a MUCH better "dancing" response to it.

Well, ****, I guess I need to move. What do you play, Steve? Judging from your "persona", I'd say guitar.....am I right?
I can't IMAGINE being able to get together once a week to play ALL FM.

Funny how nothing says forgiveness like bringing home a fat paycheck...
Back in the Danny days, it(IMO) was more "do or die".

I think in Rolling Stone, Lindsey mentioned that they were talking about getting Clapton to replace him after this incident.

Hmm...this may be just a coincidence, but there appear to be ALOT of Christine McVie songs in this set.

Actually you're right. Also she should have worn more chiffon and wrote some lyrics that mention witches or white winged doves (or both) or white winged witches! That would have been very cool!

Which would have ROCKED!!! I love Lindsey, don't get me wrong. But Fleetwood Mac with Eric Clapton...all I can say is And, it would have worked, as there were really only about four or five hit songs that were in his set around that time. So, they could have done those as well as some of the Mac's blues material. BTW, I'm not so sure EC would have said no, as this choice quote from Lindsey himself over on Madness Fades suggests:

"When Eric Clapton hangs out with Mick or us he’s always saying, “God, I wish I was in a band again.” That’s because the burden is all on him. It’s just not the same when, as a leader, you’re paying people a certain amount each week to play with you. The balance of power is not the same, and it drains you. Bob Welch had a couple of successful solo albums, but now I think he misses being in a group where people will give you honest feedback, tell you when you’ve got your head up your ass. You need that thing when other people in the band have as much at stake as you do. We could certainly all do solo albums, but that wouldn’t be the death of Fleetwood Mac. There are still good creative ties and I think we all still enjoy - and need - the feedback we get from the group situation. I can’t imagine not feeling that way anytime soon.
BAM, January 1981"
