Default Unleashed T-shirt Design Winner???

Does everyone remember that "Design a FM Unleashed T-shirt" contest a while ago and the winning shirt was to be sold at the shows...

I don't know what made this pop in my head today as I was driving, but it did... So does anyone know what ever happened with this?

They did announce them.
I believe the bulk of the winners came from the art site hosting the contest.
I do remember being disappointed and not wanting to buy any of the choices, and that's unlike me, 'cause I love Mac stuff!

Yeah a few of the ones that won were okay. Generally, the band picked some sh*t designs. Oh well.

My friend Aaron designed this one that somehow didn't win (and sent me the original art, too!)

That one is lovely. I would have bought that had it been on tour and fit properly.

Imagine paying $1000 to hear "Don't Dream It's Over" instead of "Go Your Own Way"

Fleetwood Mac helped me through a time of heartbreak. 12 years later, they broke my heart.

I don't know. Even back then, I keep remembering posts from Ledgies who read the fine print and warned us that Fleetwood Mac wasn't really affiliated with the contest and there was no guarantee that the shirts would be marketed.

I own the original piece of artwork now. Aaron and I have talked about printing 25-40 shirts for sale on the Ledge in varying colors. We're trying to work out the costs. They would more or less cost about $20 ea.

I think Aaron is more concerned with "rights" to Fleetwood Mac images and such. Then again, he is the artist and I own the art... so we're still working that out.

I think that is a fantastic design and agree that it should have won... something. As for "rights" and such, I think you would be fine as long as you strip out the word "Fleetwood Mac" from the design. It is an original work of art that is sufficiently different from the promo photo on which it was based. I don't think there should be any issues there.

I think this is a great idea. If this goes ahead please pm me so I can get one before they sell out. I'm happy to pay excess shipping charge since I'm in the UK. I just love the design, it's really original!

Brandon ~
This was one of my favorite designs too from the shirt contest. I would buy at least 2 of the shirts. Please keep us informed if you get them made for sale... Thanks...

Aaron has a guy that can def print the shirts. They are worried about not only the band name as copyright problems... but the song titles themselves. It's a tricky thing. I'm trying to convince him that if we keep the market small on it... it shouldn't be an issue. Especially if we're not turning a profit. I guess that's where he needs convincing.

I don't think you can copyright a song title. A lyric, yes, but not a song title. Otherwise, there wouldn't be multiple songs called "Save Me" or "Don't Stop" written by multiple writers. There is nothing stopping you from writing a song called "Dreams" as long as the lyrics and melody are different from Stevie's and every other songwriter's version of a song called "Dreams."
