Default Station Man or Woman Of 1000 Years

These being 2 of Danny's more well known Fleetwood Mac songs, I thought I'd ask the question, which one do you prefer and why? I'm partial to Woman Of 1000 Years cause I just love it's relaxing vibe. Station Man is great too though.

Really depends on many factors...time of day/night, day of week, etc.

On Sunday mornings, I'll take "Woman Of A 1000 Years"

On a Friday night as a set opener (or thereabouts) I'd prefer "Station Man".

Actually, my BIG preference would be to see Danny in person (with a band) playing BOTH of those songs.

Well, the LAST I heard (during Jet Celmins' Q&A here) was that he was doing a bit better and starting to play guitar again (for his own enjoyment...which is what started Peter Green back on the road to public performance again).

So who knows. Back in the late 80's/early 90's, we never thought we'd see or hear from Peter Green again, now did we? Anything can happen. (as Leon Russell said)

I prefer "Woman Of 1000 Years"... it's soft, languid, melodic, and just really appeals to me.
Not that "Station Man" isn't a great song in its own right, mind you.

I agree with it depends...on the mood one's in as they are very different songs...Woman Of A 1000 Years much more laid back...Station Man a bit more rowdy and up!

Yes, it's tough to compare two songs that are as different as those are. I think a more interesting comparison might be "Woman Of A 1000 Years" and "Sands Of Time". I like them both, and again it may be a matter of my mood as to my preference - I might give "Sands Of Time" a slight edge though. On both of those tracks, I really get the sense of Danny's approach in the studio, which I've read was very different from Peter's - Danny being extremely meticulous in playing his parts just so, and Peter being somewhat more loose and improvisational. Danny's guitar parts on both "Woman Of A 1000 Years" and "Sands Of Time" seem very carefully worked out.

It's a nightmare job for me to choose between these two songs - if I was being tortured to within an inch of my life to make me choose, I'd go for Station Man. Just.

I agree with sharksfan about Danny's approach in the studio - the "Future Games" album in particular sounds like a lot of work went in on Danny's part. I also hear the end parts to the song 'Future Games' and wonder how long it took to work it all out - am I right in thinking that's mostly or all Danny, or is Bob soloing at the end as well?

Bob's on the end of "Future Games" too...he's playing the octaves, Danny's playing the single note lines. Bob plays the arpeggiated riffs (as in the opening riffs), Danny plays the melodic solos.

Each time I listen to Future Games (and Bare Trees, too), the easier it gets to tell who's who between Danny's guitar parts & Bob's.

Default Sands of Time/Woman Of 1000 Years

Wow, a very tough decision, to me they are similiar mood songs. That whole album Future Games is a pleasant laid back album...it's really a toss-up between these two songs...I flipped a coin...Sands of Time heads. Woman of 1000 Years tails...drum-roll...it's heads Sands of Time wins
