Exclamation New Mac Compilation In November

From MusicTAP....

Fleetwood Mac between 1968-1970 was a powerhouse of a band with guitar genius, Peter Green aboard. Sanctuary will release a 3CD progressive examination of this band with Disc 1 reviewing their R&B/Blues roots while Disc 2 exposes their more experimental studio work. Finally, Disc 3 represents the band's Live environment. All of the tunes have been digitally remastered from original masters and will contain a newly assembled booklet. This 3CD retrospective arrives on November 8 with 38 songs.

This sounds like a great compilation, at least for the uninitiated, but is it all stuff that the rest of us have heard before?

No track-listing for it so far, but I'm certain that it's all stuff we have on other releases.

Interesting to see that it's being released through Sanctuary.

Crap!
They should do something like Columbia did for Miles Davis.
Perhaps:
- The complete End of the game sessions (5 disc set!)
- The complete Then play on sessions (if there's anything left in the vaults)

Oh...I forgot. The artist must be dead first.

Well, THAT incarnation of Fleetwood Mac IS dead.

It sure fits MusicTAP's description (though two tracks less than the 38 they mentioned).

Good catch!

Looks very much like a compilation of the Vaudeville Years / Show-Biz Blues sets.

Yes it does, with a little bit of the live Boston Tea Party discs thrown in there too. Doesn't look like anything new at all. Disappointing but not that unexpected. The new booklet might be good though!

With all the still-unreleased BBC tracks and good-quality live recordings out there that we know exist, why do we keep getting these repackaged sets full of stuff we already have?

It seems like Sanctuary mostly do reissues of previously released material,
at least in the case of F.Mac. So perhaps they don't have legal rights/access to any unreleased material. The stuff of the Vaudeville/Show-biz compilations seems to have been licensed to a number of labels.
So perhaps we can't count on ANY Sanctuary released having unreleased Mac material. Wonder who decides if unreleased stuff should be put out? Mick Fleetwood/and or Peter Green?
It also seems like they didn't really have the "go-ahead" from BBC to release the BBC sessions on those compilations. Maybe that's why they put "promo session" on all the BBC tracks. On any other BBC compilation (Hendrix for example) there is a text which reads like "released by agreement by the BBC" or something...
