Default Lindsey quotes Bacharach!

It's been nagging me since his album came out, but I knew I recognised the couplet from 'Santa Rosa', "It doesn't matter what you say, I'm gonna love you any old way". So I finally decided to Google it, and of course it's from 'Baby It's You', written by Burt Bacharach, Luther Dixon and Mack David, although the lyric is slightly different - "it doesn't matter what they say". I know it best from the Beatles version, but it was a big hit for the Shirelles first.

Lindsey's magpie tendencies at work again! He's quoted from the Stones before, and of course from his own songs (and Christine's - "over and over" pops up a lot), but have any of you spotted others?

Good eye (and ear) tango87. The sentiment is so generic and widespread that I imagine LB isn’t even aware of pinching the line, but pinch he did

Or maybe he was aware and this is just one more way he uses pastiche?

Either way, thanks for the spot.

How does he not get sued for copyright infringement?
