Default New Orleans Jazz Fest Crowd estimate for Fleetwood Mac

Anyone know what the crowd estimate was for the Fleetwood Mac show in New Orleans?

Curious if it was mentioned in any reviews.

what i read in the local paper "Fleetwood Mac played to a crowd as large if not larger than Bruce Springsteen's , and certainly bigger than BonJovi's" . ooops.. not really a quote, but a paraphrasing.

by Noah Cruickshank May 6, 2013 AV Club

http://www.avclub.com/articles/a-new...s-livel,97295/

In Hear This, A.V. Club writers sing the praises of songs they know well—some inspired by a weekly theme and some not, but always songs worth hearing.

Fleetwood Mac’s announcement that it was making an EP was surprising: The group hadn’t released new music since 2003’s underrated Say You Will, and its current arena tour seemed more like another back-catalog cash-grab than a chance to road-test new material. Likewise, the band hasn’t done much publicity behind the new music, keeping the release date secret and only playing two of the new songs live. But there’s no reason for Lindsey Buckingham and company to be coy: Extended Play’s opener, “Sad Angel,” is everything a fan could want from latter-day Mac. With frenetic guitar from Buckingham, expert harmony from Stevie Nicks, and a chorus that’s catchy as hell, the song is a great reminder of how well these folks can craft pop music. Buckingham has been making quality albums on his own for this past decade, but he’s livelier than ever on “Sad Angel,” drawing parallels between the bombast of war and rock music. Even Mick Fleetwood’s drumming is more energetic than it’s been since the ’80s. If Fleetwood Mac has more tracks like this in them, here’s hoping another album surfaces soon.

I have been attending Jazzfest for years and it was more crowded than I have ever seen it...the biggest crowds I have witnessed were for Springsteen and The Eagles... and Bon Jovi had a pretty big crowd...but on Saturday the Fleetwood Mac crowd rivaled, if not surpassed, the Springsteen/Eagles crowds...the first Saturday at this year's fest I was there for Billy Joel and it was not nearly as crowded as it was for FM...

http://livemusicblog.com/2013/05/07/...azz-fest-2013/

"In the last year, Jazz Fest goers have turned to social media in greater numbers than in years past – almost doubling the number of mentions about the music festival over 2012. There were noticeably more attendees on Saturday May 4th, as Fleetwood Mac’s performance attracted some of the largest crowds in Jazz Fest history (attendance numbers have not yet been released). However, the classic rock group missed out on the lion’s share of the buzz with Maroon 5 claiming the top place among social media mentions. And although the crowds gathered for Fleetwood Mac were greater in number, it is likely that the younger crowd present for contemporary pop group Maroon 5 was more tech savvy than their older festing compatriots, which could account for the discrepancy in crowd size and the volume of social media buzz."

NOLA Defender, May 9, 2013
http://www.noladefender.com/content/...ance-down-2013

After hitting a 10-year high and a Springsteen set in 2012, JazzFest attendance was down slightly in 2013, according to organizers. The 2013 edition saw more than 425,000 pass through the gates, while 2012 saw 450,000, its highest since 2003.

Fleetwood Mac drew a crowd that some observers said was beginning to rival Springsteen's to the Acura Stage on the Fest's second Saturday. However, rain on Sunday, April 28 and Thursday, May 2, combined with chilly conditions on May 3 likely cut into the numbers. At the end of Trombone Shorty's closing set.

Sunday, Fest director Quint Davis said the weather put organizers through a "long, strange trip," with some of the messiest weather in Fest history on Thursday and Friday of the second weekend followed by some of the most glorious weather on the final two days.

The all-time JazzFest high attendance remains 2001's vaunted 650,000, which featured a single day of the Dave Matthews Band and Mystikal at the height of their popularity.
